I hate Strahan with every ounce of my body. But Sapp getting in before the Gaptooth Wonder is a joke. Sapp is easily the most overrated player in 20 years. Along with Emmitt Smith.

Maybe they're waiting until Brett Favre is eligible, then they'll induct him and Strahan at the same time.
Just kidding. Strahan should've gotten in ahead of, or at least along with, Sapp.

If its between Favre and Strahan with only one spot left, I wonder if Favre would lay down and let Strahan get in.

I think they were probably waiting until the Super Bowl is in New Jersey so Strahan can be elected in the Giants hometown.

The Professor did a segment this morning on ESPN2 talking about the discussions that went on concerning each candidate, not specifically what was said, but the fact that basically after the voters go over a player's "resume" (individual stats in comparison to their contemporaries and then team accomplishments) they would spend roughly 30 - 60 minutes debating their "HOF worthiness".
While Strahan's resume is strong (although not nearly as strong as White's or Smith's who he was undoubtedly compared to) and his teams did go to a pair of SBs (going 1 - 1), jesery did also finish .500 or below in 8 of his 15 seasons.
So while I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when they discussed him, how his #s stacked up against 2 of the greatest DE's of all time, coupled with jersey's less than stellar team performances over half his career were most likely the reasons why he was not deserving of being a 1st ballot inductee in the voter's minds.

I'm a bit surprised by that, honestly though, if given my choice and I had to pick one of two to get in, I'd take him over Sapp. Haley should have gotten the nod over Sapp though.

I think the Sapp that we've had to put up with post retirement has clowded the minds of some as to how good a player he was. Warren Sapp was a rare breed of Defensive Tackle, one of the most athletic player for his size that I've ever seen. Yes, that Bucs defense had some really good players, but he anchored that defensive line that dominated for years. Maybe he should have been made to wait a year or two, but it's not a travesty that he made it in.
Haley will make it eventually, they're not gonna let the only man with 5 rings hang out to dry forever, and Strahan will make it in too. What I'm saying is you can make a good case for those two, but you can't make a case against Sapp not deserving to be a hall of famer.
