With the abilities of HD signals, they ought to give different options. Let the viewers opt for what they want to see. Some ish singer pretending to sing on channel 3-1 or analysts discussing the game and showing highlights on channel 3-2.

For that matter, I really wish they'd give multiple audio options too. Watch the games (all NFL games) with the network boobs on channel 3-1 or watch it on 3-2 with the home team radio broadcast audio, channel 3-3 with the away team radio broadcast audio.
That will never happen

Guys like Joe Buck and Nantz think they're god and the voices of the NFL

This is just the first, and most likely not the last concession the league and the network (FOX next year) is going to have to make in order to hold the SB in an outdoor, cold weather stadium.

Being an old-head purist, I have no problem with NFL games (including the championship) being played in the elements, but if the weather right around and/or at game time is just flat out awful (say in the low 20's with a steady freezing rain/sleet), there probably won't be another held in such a venue, at least not for a very long time.

I can't even imagine with a killer smoke, light, and laser show with an NFL budget.

I know it won't officially happen, though it does happen every week for me when I watch the Eagles games. I never listen to the TV idiots.

Due to unpredictable weather in North Joisy next year, there won't be one.

Cold weather and outdoor superbowls every year please.
\
so will they shorten the halftime then or just fill it in with more commericals?

My god the hatred for those halftime shows has gone haywire. I don't remember people moaning about them this much in the 90's.

Yeah and back then they were REALLY bad...

They should stream 30 minutes of dead air into our living rooms between the 2nd and 3rd quarter, like Jesus intended when he founded this great country.

How about a massive snowball battle during halftime or a snowman building contest because that's what we are coming to. With complaints about Beyoncé's outfit, the NFL is going to eventually being Up With People back.

Hardcore NFL fans, especially of the teams playing will go no matter what but this is suppposed to be a worldwide celebration, party time. Remember when they were in Jacksonville and it was in the fifties and rainy. Everyone was miserable. I also believe one year in Atlanta it snowed and put a damper on SB festivities. Of course weather didn't hurt that game because it was in a dome but all the t.v. stations, ESPN etc were miserable. For someone watching it on t.v. it doesn't matter though. NFL is taking a massive risk but it's just one of the many things if it goes wrong that will hang over over Roger Goodell's legacy.

One suggestion has been to stage the halftime show in the Izod Center (the arena at The Meadowlands) as part of a combination concert/Super Bowl simulcast where the game would be on giant screens and people would pay to go there for the halftime show plus a full postgame concert and see the game there.  Could give the NFL an extra 15-20,000 people on the site doing that.

Also, the pre-game festivities as I would be looking to do could include The Meadowlands Racetrack (also on the grounds) staging a full card of Harness Racing in the afternoon ahead of the game) that could include the final of one of it's big winter series for older horses that even perhaps could be part of one of the pre-Super Bowl telecasts on FOX for instance.
