This is just the first, and most likely not the last concession the league and the network (FOX next year) is going to have to make in order to hold the SB in an outdoor, cold weather stadium.
Being an old-head purist, I have no problem with NFL games (including the championship) being played in the elements, but if the weather right around and/or at game time is just flat out awful (say in the low 20's with a steady freezing rain/sleet), there probably won't be another held in such a venue, at least not for a very long time.
Hardcore NFL fans, especially of the teams playing will go no matter what but this is suppposed to be a worldwide celebration, party time. Remember when they were in Jacksonville and it was in the fifties and rainy. Everyone was miserable. I also believe one year in Atlanta it snowed and put a damper on SB festivities. Of course weather didn't hurt that game because it was in a dome but all the t.v. stations, ESPN etc were miserable. For someone watching it on t.v. it doesn't matter though. NFL is taking a massive risk but it's just one of the many things if it goes wrong that will hang over over Roger Goodell's legacy.
