.... How football scouts get a job? I mean historically you had to either play or coach at some level, but in todays age it seems "knowing people" is the best way to get ANY job. I have a career right now in the Med Field, but football has always been my passion. Ive always wanted to do something in relation to football, but never really knew what to do about it. Other than going to College for Physical Education/ Teaching, but Im not the type to stand in front of the classroom, so that was never an option for me.

I remember back 4-5 years ago I randomly sat down beside a Georgia recruiter at a H.S 6A Championship game. We talked and b.s'd about football. He told me which players he was here to watch, and what players other teams in SEC was after. He was there watching a T play, as well as a LB. Seemed to fun to even be called a job. What was funny is that poor Tackle got beat all night long. He then said he was gonna call and cancel his flight

Just bored here at work and was wondering how these guys get jobs on Collegiate and NFL levels. Although Im guessing most of them start out as Graduate Assistants?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I doubt Dave will answer that question, but I may PM ndirish. Yea I can definitely see the traveling aspect. Im just trying to gain some knowledge about it. Very very doubtful Id ever get the chance to do anything football related, but Im just curious.

Lemme know what you find... sometimes I think I spend more scouting prospects than Howie does. Although that's certainly not true...

I wish 1 of us knew someone in the field. That seems like the most likely scenario. Someone who would vouch for you and carry you under their wing until you proved yourself, so to speak.
