Funny Statement from Palantonio on Mike and Mike

He also did not seem to understand how Vick or Dixon could be options it sounded like (which probably everyone but some of the brain trusts on here agree with).
I am all for QB competition, but how you could possibly think two quarterbacks (Vick or Dixon) with well below average passing skills could be successful is beyond me. This is a league where 12 guys threw 25+ TDs, 11 guys threw 4000+ yards, and 16 guys completed 60% of their passes or more. I am fine with making a trade for a QB who may fit the system who passes well, or drafting a QB who throws well and can run the read option, if you really feel Foles has no chance at it. But going after a 28 year old, injury prone guy on another teams practice squad, or keeping a 33 year old injury prone, mistake prone, well on the decline quarterback really should not even be an option or considered at all. The fact that there is a good chance Vick or Dixon is starting in 2013 is really nerve racking.
(FYI if you are a Vick nuthugger and are going to bring no factual evidence and just insults to the conversation then go back to work or whatever you do in your life to get by).

I would not call that an insult. It is more just you would have to be a bit delusional Vick fan to think he should start here. Maybe out of touch with reality is the better term?

no I just do not want statements such as "you are a moron and Vick will lead the Eagles to victory." I welcome a discussion in varying views of what I said as long as people don't act like jackasses like as Philadelphia fans we are known to do.

And to your last statement, and if you are a Vick hater do tell what QB will have immediate impact on the eagles and get this team to it's first Super Bowl and as far as I'm concern Brady, P. Manning, Brees are all signed so who will do?
as of now Vick is the only option and we don't even know if Chip's scheme will work in the NFL.

i certainly hope so. we all know analystics need something to talk about when there are no games going on as well. For all we know the eagles have zero interest in dixon and have a late round pick already alligned to vick's departure. Unfortunately for all we know they are planning on keeping vick at a slightly reduced rate, bringing in dixon to back him up, and already have a trade worked out giving us a 2nd round pick for foles.

Slightly less? Vick won't make $5M this year and Foles will start. If I'm right can I go to work for ESPN? I'd already be if that were the case.

That is a fact based on the last two years of facts - performance or lack of!!!
I can see the Dixon thing, only from the perspective that he knows Kelly's system, drills and can help in getting others in sync. but certainly not good enough for competition

There are numerous options they can go here - just have to have faith (albeit blind faith) that Kelly does the right thing when he gets time to really evaluate the roster. I'll bet he hasn't spent much time doing so thus far, in trying to complete the assembly of his staff.
Regarding Vick, it is reported they really have until March 12 to trade or release him, such that they'd only be liable for any portion of the $3M that he doesn't make elsewhere. Doubt they'd find a suitor willing to trade for him. If he is released, have to figure he'll catch on somewhere (most likely as a backup) so the money out-of-pocket for buying that extra month would be minimal.
Regarding Foles, I know Kelly has said he is willing to adapt his zone-read option scheme to the players on the current roster. But I also believe he will want to employ his vision of an offense at some point - so why install a scheme that will not stick around long-term ?

I agree on the first point. To me this is a bad sign. Vick's 'talent' has coached numerous coaches to go astray through the years and it just happened in philly. How can Lurie even consider letting it happen again? To me it's symptomatic of the bigger problem. We have a GM that contributes nothing to any real football decisions. If Ozzie Newsome were GM here would Vick still be on this team today? I think we all know the answer to that. Basically we hired a college coach and provided him with no real NFL support system in the FO except contract negotiation and scouting reports for college players. Kelly is facing an uphill battle even though he is smart.

says you because you don't want foles to even have an opportunity. If it's a stop gap year why not go with 24 years old and showing promise to see what you have instead of 33 year old rapidly declining turnover boy? if foles turns out to suck ok fine you draft the next guy. what gain is there to starting vick in a stop gap year and never finding out what foles can really do?

5 years ago I would say this is true, however, not anymore. The rules have changed drastically and has made it alot easier to play QB. College QB's are also alot closer to being nfl ready today then they ever have.
Starting QB's:
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Ben
Eli
Payton
Matt Ryan
Rivers
Romo
Schaub
Stafford
Flacco
Cutler
Newton
Freeman
CK/Smith
Bradford
Dalton
Cassell
Palmer
Fitzpatrick
Sanchez
Luck
Griffen
Ponder
Wilson
Kolb/Skelton
Locker
Tannehill
Weeden
Gabbert
In bold, I would consider franchise type QB's. More often than not, teams have quality QB's in the nfl. There are also some borderline ones depending on who you talk to, but regardless, this was not the case 5-10 years ago. Unless you had a top 5 QB you were not winning the super bowl. That is not the case anymore.

WHat SAL PAL was saying is that all three of our division Rivals have pretty Good QB's... and we dont have one.
He is pointing out how important it will be that we get one.
Lets see what they do in the draft/Free agency etc..... Chip and the Front office know they cant win with Vick... so relax... They will address it. It's way to early yet to panic
