I think there's a good chance we part ways with Nnamdi and DRC this off-season.  Yes I would like to build through the draft but the fact is we also need to get help at NT, OL, and S in this years draft.  There simply isn't enough room to address every need without free agency.  Enter Gamble.

Most likely Talib and Grimes are not going to hit the open market. At 29 years old and coming off a shoulder injury, he clearly isn't an ideal long-term option.  However he would come pretty cheap, and although he's not playing at his previous pro-bowl level, over the past 2 years when he has shown the ability to shadow #1 WRs.

He's the Panthers' best CB but their cap situation is one of the worst in the league so I've seen a number of reports that he's gone.   Not a great option but its not like we're rolling in cap space with Revis hitting the market.  Plus our secondary, if we release Nnamdi, has a troubling lack of veteran leadership.

Just a thought. What do you think?

Dude, I've lived in Charlotte for the past 16 years and Gamble is not only the most hated player on the team by the entire fanbase (and by a huge margin) but he just flat out stinks.

Really?  Never read much about his personality but then again obviously I don't follow Carolina closely.  From the little I did see from him he had kind of an up-and-down 2012 (burnt by AJ Green, held Fitz to 3 catches), but he was considered by some (including pro football focus for what it's worth) to be a probowl snub in 2011. I think "flat-out stinks" is an exaggeration but you may know better than I do it you follow Carolina.  If he has personality issues though I may stay clear.

Again I'm not suggesting he's the answer to our prayers, but if we need to replace DRC and NA our options are pretty limited.

Former Buckeye! But dang I never heard about that either, its interesting what players own teams fan base thinks of them. Wonder why they hate him, maybe they have never watched our dbs before.

Eagles don't like players in their 30's. I know he's 29.

Not an ideal solution I agree.  Still don't see many great options out there if we have to replace both NA and DRC (although Davis may want to keep DRC due to the Arizona connection).  I imagine we'll draft someone, and Kelly/Davis will do his due diligence on Marsh/Hughes.  However, if we had to dip into free agency for a veteran presence he would be cheap relative to a young guy like DRC, wouldn't command a long-term deal (if say we choose to draft a CB in 2014),  and when healthy flashed some genuine ability (2011).

Not a sexy choice, but it could be a smart one considering how many holes we have to fill.

Retiring, thought he had some gas left in the tank. Oh well...
