My Litmus test for Chip was always the choice of DC.
The good news I am not mad, but not on board either.

There is no "honeymoon."

Winning earns one thing.
Losing earns something else.

I was thinking about getting on the lifeboat but then he reeled me back in with the OL coach hire. Now I'm flopping on deck.

disagree.

If he had made "good" coordinator hires, he would get at least a year of "honeymoon" in my opinion.

Now with these utterly ****tmongering co-ordinators, he will have to show improvement and success much quicker.

If the defense finishes 27th in points and yards like this twatfaces average, it will be hard to handle

Let's face it, the FO screwed up again. They probably thought they could get one of the coaches on the SB teams. Now we have a guy that has never proven a thing yet they will tell us this is who they wanted all along. Wish we got Gus Bradley now.

I think the Davis hiring caused a lot of fans to wanna make Chip Kelly go "bang zoom, to the moon".

No, it's much worse than that.

I think Chip has farted in the honeymoon suite.  Maybe not a deal-breaker in the long run, but certainly a head scratcher.

I'm not thrilled about the DC pick at all.  I will, however give some benefit of the doubt.  I will just say right now that I'm cautiously.... cautious.

How you win also matters. I know the league changed and everything, but Philly was always about great defense. Reggie White, JB, Andy Harmon, etc.. I never had to worry when defense stepped on the field!
Now ...I do not know these guys ...and what I see since JJ, I do not like.
We will see how it goes next year, but the leash just got halved.

My test for Kelly will be QB... keep Vick as starter and the honeymoon will lead straight to an anullment

I'm not thrilled with the choices, but I'll wait before beotching about them.   Remember, all the numb nuts around here were all excited over Washburn and Mudd.   How did that work out for us?

The coaching staff is admittedly (very) uninspiring ... but I'll wait & see what happens.

It's a message board we are in a continual state of judgment here. Of course we'll have to see what happens. And really we won't even know that until 2years in but are we going to answer every thread with 'wait and see' until then. There's always something new whether its a draft pick, FA, or just experience that will extend that timeline as well

Well, like I said, I am not jazzed about the coaching staff.  A bit disappointed, to be honest.  But there have been several moves over the past few seasons that on paper looked great & turned out to be awful.  I guess I am hoping for the opposite here.

But what if Chip wanted Grantham first and he elected to stay at Georgia and then Donatell 2nd and he couldn't get him because San Fran said no?

C'mon.  No way you are going to convince me that the ONLY available DC was stone cold loser who can't hold onto a job.

At this point I believe that's the case but I'd put somebody else in front of Donatell as a top candidate. Maybe Kelly really wanted Herrmann but when he pulled his name from consideration, Kelly had to look elsewhere. It's obvious that Davis could've been hired weeks ago.
