Well now that we're switching to a stupid 3-4, we're probably gonna trade him anyway.

He's only our best DE. No biggie.

Hope he recovers quickly.  From what I've read of Davis' defense (at least the way he ran it in Ari) Cole will still have a role in this defense.  I was worried since I don't think he's a fit in a pure 3-4 system.  It would have been depressing to see him leave even though it looks like Graham overtook him skill-wise last year.

If we stay 4-3 then yes but if we switch to a 3-4 scheme than Cole would be OLB.

I think the honest way to grade Cole is this. He just came off of his worst year in 2012 in a long time, yea you can blame that on Washburn but talent is talent and if your good then you produce no matter what changes (ex: Jared Allen). Cole has been our most consistent DE for years but his 2012 season does question if it is age catching up to him, regardless of the 3-4 switch, coaches and Howie would have their eyes on Cole to see what production we get out of him in 2013 (if he stays). But he has been our most solid defensive player since JJ died.

Our new coach is not going to make a decision on the 4-3 or 3-4 just based on Cole. Our younger front seven starters like Graham, Curry and Kendriks are why we are most likely switching to a 3-4 because these guys are long term.......Cole is getting older and is now considered short term.

Trent is one of the few players I actually like on this team. I hope he stays.
