@frenchladyfan: If that was true, the "financial evil" would have stopped with Banner's departure.

wood, i'll mostly agree, but I don't think Bell & Watkins were the direct result of Howie's meddling.  DRC was a good swap for K Kolb, but you're right we've got some money issues when it comes to player performance.  I'll maybe blame Howie for the Aso deal....a deal that should've never been considered and/or vetoed by Roseman, instead of pursuing him and concocting it in the first place.

Bell was a move out of desperation, and once Peters went down in camp, it was too late.  We needed a LT, and this was a plug and play manuever.  I feel this move had plenty of Mudd & Reid's red ink all over it...seeing false "talent" in him.  As far as the deal is concerned...it worked out ok...we cut him this year and will get Peters back this season, saving the cap room.  He shouldn't have been paid a dime I'll agree, but at least we had exit strategy with Bell.

Watkins I'll blame Reid for that reach in the draft.  The oldest player selected in the first round since the 1980's. (26 years old) Great selection there.  We don't draft him without the input of Reid and his wanting him for some reason.

Precisely why I pointed it out,  for several who now spit on Roseman have conveniently forgotten how they blamed banner.

Wood, I think it was obvious what happened.  It was Reid's last ride, they had to leave no excuses for him.  The spending spree of 2011 was setup since the end of 2008 with all the money saving and cutting/trading of older players... and what I think was smart in using the cap free year to basically clear out the roster of all these older players and go way under the cap.  Problem I foresaw comign with the "chemistry" issues you talk about. Some of the current tenured players were underpaid. Instead of taking care of them first, and then signing the FAs, they just went after all the new guys.  In 2012 Howie tried to correct it and overpaid these guys.  From a marketing standpoint Banner was a nightmare the way he handled players culminating with the Dawkins situation (who was pretty much underpaid his whole career and then disgarded to save $2.2mil) Westbrook had to play out his rookie deal and basically beg for money. Not signing Trotter in 2002 and having the 300lb MLB Kirkland miss the key tackle vs Tampa in the  NFC title game didn't look good for Uncle Joe either.  Throw in a Phillies championship parade and the bar had changed for the Eagles locally.  The arrogance spewed from Novacare (Uncle Joe was the symbol of this) about how they have avoided being a bad team for so long, didn't work anymore.  Remember the "definition of insanity speech". They knew things had to change and the honeymoon was over (atleast with local fans)  Unlike Snowleopard who worries about the supposed "glorious past" the locals just wanted the job finished in bringing home the lombardi.  Unfortunately they didn't jump off the Reid train before the obvious crash of 2012.  So we are here now with a restart.  FINALLY!   If they fail to bring home the lombardi... it won't take as long to replace Banner & Reid this time.

Biggest off-season QB domino already has fallen: Eagles have re-signed Michael Vick to a one-year deal for 2013 season

ATV...Woody...Snowy...and CCL...the holy trinity.

DDD, interesting news.  I have ESPN on in hte backround... they were saying how the players union may be anooyed if Vick took a huge pay cut.  I'm interested to see the contract.
This opens up some things.   Now Vick and Foles can both be on the table for trades.  Vick only having one year for other teams to worry about paying him and this gives the rest of the league the appearance that Foles is not what Kelly wants.  It will be interesting to see what unfolds.  I think both go to camp unless there is an overwhelming offer that comes before the draft.   But I would think one gets traded before the season starts.

In theory ..Vick "bests fits" Chip scheme and would work in college football ....remains to be seen if it carries over to the NFL
I guessing Vick lasts 4 games turning it over 5 times  before sidelined by injury ......

I have to say what a disgrace!  unbelievable!

I need to know how much this is costing us!  Were we that afraid to let him go shop FA?  Were we THAT scared that'd drive the price up for keeping him here for another year???  And if it did....why did anyone care???  This is a HUGE blunder!

Joe... read report that the deal is 10 milz most in a signing bonus

makes Vick more tradeable if Chip decides Vick isn't working out and unable to run the system... but I think it a good idea for Chip to see Vick in action first hand in his system... all other film can't really tell him that

Im hoping that this is the move we make before we trade Vick.

It makes 0 sense, if Kelly is "revamping" the team, for us to keep an old injury and turnover prone QB.

We should keep DRC.  His difficulties in the slot don't mean he isn't a good #1 or #2 corner.  He's had a good career until he came onto this team with a carousel of DC's with the worst safeties I've ever seen on the eagles playing over the top.  If we address safety, he'll be fine.

Please trade Vick, nnamdi, and maybe desean.  Let's beef up our D with real impact players with real character.
