I don't disagree with that, I'm simply saying it doesn't have to necessarily be one scheme or the other just because Davis is the DC. Chip said in his original press conference that he will let the skill sets of the personnel dictate the scheme and that's what I'm going by. Until we actually see the product on the field or at least see what kind of players we draft we can only speculate what formation/scheme we'll ultimately run. Even if we run a pure 3-4 though it doesn't have to mean Trent Cole has to do anything but rush the passer, the way Mario Williams did nothing but rush the passer as an OLB in Houston.

The personnel dictates the scheme and the FO will fill the roster with players that fit the scheme they want to run. Hopefully Chip and Butch will play to the strengths of his players (unlike Reid). That being said, there is no chance the Eagles are going to have a 4-3 based defense so they will adjust the personnel accordingly.
It will definitely be a process and it will take more than one or even two drafts, that's for sure. Even if we run the 4-3 under stuff I like it, but it requires some very physical corners and a very physical secondary altogether and we have like....none of that.

Which is the exact reason I'd have no problem going Milliner first, although I'd prefer to trade down and get him later - #4 is too high. This defense absolutely requires a big, physical secondary, and it's comical to picture it with anything approaching our current group.
I believe the OL will be easier to address later in the draft ( or even in FA) than the secondary, and defense in general. You are set on Joeckel, but even your hero (kidding, HB, kidding) Mayock has said that this draft is deep but not at all top heavy.

Touche, but Mayock also said this is one of the deepest safety classes in recent memory and even big physical corners can be had in later rounds. Xavier Rhodes is as physical as it gets with great man to man skills and he can be had probably at the top of the second round. Get Joeckel now or even Eric Fisher if Reid takes Luke and get Rhodes in the second, one of the safeties in the third. So far not a lot of these great Alabama prospects have shown to be anything special. Kirkpatrick was so/so last year and Kareem Jackson is barely a starter any more at the position.

Eagles need a NT and a OT and there will be a stud available. I can't imagine they would take a CB in the top 10 picks.

The Eagles desperately need a NT. They absolutely need CB's, but they are a easier to find then a space clogging, skilled behemoth. There's a lot of OL's in this draft and I think they fish later for those.

Have we completely dismissed Dixon in that role? Perhaps it might be better to target a position that is completely bereft.
