Are you comparing a player finding out about his own dismissal from a team with fans and other teams finding out?

If you were fired wouldn't you expect your boss to tell you before you heard it from your coworkers?

1- I have been very lucky in life and started my 1st  business at the rightful age of 14 and have never worked for anyone in my life. Thank god.
2- I personally have ALWAYS spoke 1 on 1 with any employee I have ever let go. Though there are plenty that have left over the years with little to no notice.
3- However my point is, in the goofy world of professional sports where players move on from team to team running to the highest bidder, I find it odd and comical for players to be so sensitive to being fired when they basically are in a never ending cycle of firing their employers without notice.

While this is true... Certain players deserve a little more respect.

Weaver was one of those guys.

Listen, if you have read many of my posts you know I am not a fan of professional athletes and I spend zero time being concerned with what they do off the field, so I have no clue as to what kind of person he is.
If you say he is 1 of the few good guys in professional sports I believe ya and maybe he did deserve a little more professionalism.

Again, my point is that athletes do the same to their former teams.
LEAVE WITHOUT NOTICE.

And I get it that I am in a minority with this opinion.

What athlete has ever left the team they were on (under contract) and went to another team?!?

That's ridiculous.

Players can't just leave. The team gets notice; it's called Free Agency. When you blow up your knee, spend time rehabbing to come back and then find out through the press that you've been released, that's not too fun.

I used this as an example of how AR is not the coach everyone made him out to be. Yes it was a business decision, but since he was such a player's coach, you would have thought AR would have said to Banner, " Let me make the call."

A phone call would be nice but when you bank a fat contract and then aren't able to perform you really aren't in a position to cry. Everyone under the sun knew his release was going to happen, had to happen. Weaver continued to live in denial and I get why, sometimes an athlete has to. But he should stop crying already. He made out more than fine and maybe should have an inkling of unhappiness about taking money for nothing, stop ripping the people who were left holding the bag.

They treated the poor guy like a slave.  He'd be cruel to come back as a slave driver after what hes been through.

And he was healthy enough since then to play how many downs ???

Great, so players can make everything strictly about self financial gains but the guys that take 100% of the risk,,, THE OWNERS can't.
Awesome.

Weaver was awesome for us until the injury.  He probably would have had a pretty good career for us if it wouldn't have happened.  He was a hard nose guy that played tough and seemed to actually enjoy playing.  That is hard to find anymore.

What the hell are you talking about? How does not informing your player that he's being cut affect your team's financial situation? What does that have to do with whether or not he played again? It costs them nothing to extend the courtesy of notifying a player that he's been released.

And your hatred for the guys who risk their health and livelihood to give you the best sports product in the world on Sundays is kind of confusing. There is no loyalty in this business.

Please stop with these stupid "wish my favorite player was a coach for the Eagles" thread.  Makes you look stupid and uninformed.  Which may be true, but you don't want everyone to know.

Awesome.

NFL contracts are unilateral and benefit the team owner.

You say that you own a business, right?

Are you talking about hold-outs?  Deciding not to re-up your contract is not "leaving without notice" so you must be referring to hold-outs.

In the grand scheme of things, hold-outs don't happen very often.  Maybe a handful of players do it each year, and when they do they are looked down upon.  What the Eagles did to Weaver (and have done to a couple other players as well) was rude at the very least.

Your dam straight they benefit the owners. And sadly not enough.
Hard to believe all you people can be so blind to the endless crap these players that you fans suck the balls of,,, put the owners and fans through.
- are there hold outs every year ??
- are there players that move onto other teams in free agency without giving their former team a chance to match ??
- are there players that take endless games off, and in some cases and entire year off becuase they don't like their friggen contract ??
- are there endless players that after they sign their big contracts they slack off ??
Hard to believe that so many fans have no problem with all that crap. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

And yes I own,,,, owned 3 very successful business to be exact. Successful enough to allow me to retire when I was 51 with barely a high school education thank you.
So in all honesty, I have basically no time, nor the care for someone to explain to me on how to be successful or about life.
