I like the Gamble hire. It gets the Birds back to the successful way of doing business. Personnel Man does player personnel. The HC Coach coaches the players and runs his assistants. Capologist makes the deals on the "right players" using input from Player Personnel and HC. I like this triangle of responsibility. And, both Roseman and Gamble are proven performers in the NFL. Kelly is the new guy--and he has great support--finally.

you are thinking Combo times will be on the slow side? That was my initial take as well.

Can you clarify how the winner is determined?

Does our player have to post the fastest 40...and then we see how close our guess is to the actual time?

Or, is the winner the entry with player who runs an identical time to the guess?

Wood, are things ok now in the conspiracy world of the Eagles front office???  LOL   I remember this being talked about last year as Howie got extended and Banner was replaced as President ... it was the next natural step in getting a football guy in place. (Basically saying when Andy is gone next year, we will hire a coach to just coach and get someone else to be the key influence on player personel.)  I guess you were under the impression that Howie wanted to do all this and saw himself as the football expert.  Hearing enough talk over the past year, I always got the impression someone else was coming in for that, but that the main things Howie was going to have influence with was choosing the head coach and the football guy to help him pick players.  I don't think that's too out of line... I would be the same way.

>>joemas: like it or not, Lurie's right hand man ( the hatchet man position) is always going to be a capologist of some flavor. Roseman is simply the new Joe Banner. I have no problem with Howie in that role. I have only objected to all claims to Howie's amazing expertise at player personnel and coaching. Lurie wants to come across as a benevolent owner--and Banner filled the role of hatchet man who did the dirty work while Lurie kept his hands clean. We have seen how sharp Howie's hatchet is too. Lurie will continue to speak in empty platitudes and let the young guys run the team and make him money--that is how it is supposed to go.

Am still not clear on the big picture and the financial commitments of the Eagles organizations to settling out past partners. I suspect that Christina Lurie and Joe Banner have some dough due to them from Jeff and the Eagles. Whether or not this impacts future operations remains to be seen. I remain convinced it effected Reid's options and capabilities.

Better times are ahead.

jhop, getting back to QB discussion.  Here is my take on what I think they are trying to do.  
1. By having the current 4 it allows them to bypass taking one in this years draft
2. They want either Vick or Foles to earn it, and look to trade the other one (I think they want Foles)
3. Dixon's presence should force the other QBs to up their game a little, not that he is better than them, but that he knows Chip's system and both Foles & Vick can't rely on getting the job by default.  Meaning Foles can't just get it by being smarter than Vick and Vick can't just get it by being a better athlete than Foles.  Foles will also have to beat out Dixon mentally, and Vick will also have to beat out Dixon physically.  
4. I also think Chip wants to test his system to see how far he can go with a moblie QB.  Having 2 of them to start helps incase one relly stinks it up (ie. Vick...lol)
Basically, they want 2 things... the QB to win the job, not everyone else to lose it ..and then have another QB to trade.    Personally I think Dixon & Edwards are pretty much locks to make it as backups with their contracts, unless Vick wins the job and they don't get a decent offer for Foles, then I see them holding onto Foles as a backup. But very slim chance they pay Vick to stay on as a backup!
