And the early Lurie years - Kotite, some bad Rhodes years, the Vet. But now don't you get a different vibe from the team? It's a destination place. The Eagles are a team that blue chip personnel and coaching types want to come to. They've become more Hollywood to in their own way. First Chip, now Gamble. And both of these guys came here to be here - they're not settling.
My interest is piqued.

I think right now you might just be feeling a bit optimistic because of the recent changes in coaching.

Ahhhhh, the Eagles have been considered 1 of the best run organizations not only in the NFL but in all of professional sports since about 2000.
Where the hell have you been ??
Now granted, lots of goofy hometown fans are clueless to this, but outside of Philly they are absolutely considered 1 of the class organizations in the NFL.

The past few years we are turning back into one of the bad franchises.

Leonard Tose was beloved by Philly, was he not? He was a sad man, but a good owner.
As for Chip Kelly wanting to come here? Not settling? Let's wait to see what happens to Oregon first? If they get hit with sanctions, then you can probably guess that he needed to go somewhere. He'll have "settled" for the highest offer.

Sounded like he was comparing the recent era (since Lurie bought the team) to earlier years under previous owners.

When Jeff Lurie bought the team, it was refreshing for the fans because changes were guaranteed to be made. Braman was gone. Gone were the days of the owner who really didn't care. Gone was the owner that had no desire to really build a championship contender. Lurie has taken steps to change the culture of the team and build a championship team when he's made changes. When he brought in Ray Rhodes, he looked to the first franchise to win 5 Super Bowls and brought in a coach who was there for all 5. On the surface it looked like a smart move but Rhodes quickly proved to be in over his head. He went with Reid who coached with Green Bay when they made their 2 Super Bowl appearances and it was working out for a while but then Reid's system was figured out and he didn't adjust and things just got stale.
Now that Lurie's looking to go with Chip Kelly (who's regarded as an innovator), let's see what happens. So far the Eagles have made a couple moves that shows things may be changing again. I like that the position coaches are guys that are teachers and they're guys who stress fundamentals, technique, and the basics. I'm fine with that. I like that they brought back Tom Gamble who'd been a GM candidate around the league and is coming in to be another voice for the personnel department.

Could be.
I took it as him meaning JUST NOW, not since then.
Wouldn't be the 1st time I read something wrong. Lol
