i just watched that press conference. A reported asked if he received any trade offers for Foles. He said "I havent. Have the philadelphia eagles?"... then went on to say he wants to coach Nick.
He pretty much dodged the question. So regardless of the fact that he said "I want to coach Nick..." it wasnt very convincing that he wont be traded.

to be fair and honest. everybody knows that all of our qbs have been subjected to some of the worst coaching and playcalling in the entire league and while i have no doubt in my mind that vick will be much much better the same goes for foles. while unlike everybody else i saw nothing promising from foles i think he will be much much better also under kellys system

If I say I want to coach "Joe blowdonuts" it means I like the potential and want to see how I can develop it...

I dont know what that means to Chip, but obviously what it means to some others HERE that "I want to trade that tall white kid with potential that the racists in Philly dont know and hate..."

That's either because you didn't want to see anything promising and you've convinced yourself of it or you weren't actually watching Eagles games when you thought you were.

Guys we have already announced that if a good deal is offered for Foles then were going to take it. Maybe that wasn't said verbatum but that is likely the case. If we get offered scrap for him then he will stay but if were offered a pick that we cannot refuse then Foles is history.

Sure Kelly may want to coach him, who wouldn't?, but if Foles is not a part of Kelly's plans in the future then he is outta here......and that is becoming a likely scenario IMO.

Do you even know what "system" Kelly is going to be running? He even said himself that he is not a system guy.

I see this as the first concrete sign that he indeed does want to see if Foles can do it with his own two eyes. If so, that means there won't be a move before OTAs. I still think Vick is more likely to be traded, simply because not only is his restructure more team-friendly for the Eagles, it's more trade-friendly too.

Agreed Hazelton just last week when interviewed Kelly was asked "Have you talked to Dixon?" He said "No I haven't talked to him." Unless you want to interpret Kelly told Roseman to talk to Dixon...really are you going to believe what Kelly says at this point? Nobody knows what he's going to do. Eagles Insider is owned by the Eagles. It's just another layer of secrecy...m

Can't really expect Kelly to say anything different. Hell if Reno Mahe was still on this team he would probably say he looks forward to coaching him.

I would think their will be no trades until after the special training camp, just before the draft. Well unless someone offered them something crazy. I'm sure there is not one player on this roster that they would turn down a 1st rounder for...

Reno did not need coaching... he needed legs.

If Kelly said "I think Vick is a washed up never-was who can't hold on to the football, but I'd like to try him out in practice." Vick fans would take this as "VICK IS A FOOTBALL GOD THAT WILL DOMINATE THE NFL THIS YEAR!!!"

But Kelly says he wants to coach Foles and Vick fans say it's meaningless.

"I think there (are) two things. There's perception and then there's reality. The perception is we run our quarterback all the time and this is what we do. The reality is that's not the case. One of the best qualities in a quarterback is durability and a lot of that has to do with play calling.

"In terms of Nick, I know him because we played against him (when I was at Oregon and he was at Arizona). I'm a huge fan of his. He's tough. It's an attribute that I think a lot of people don't understand of how hard it is and what toughness means to the quarterback spot. To just be able to stand in the pocket and throw the football (is tough). We hit him as many times as we could hit him and he just kept getting up and making plays. He completed a 13-yard pass left handed against us once and I remember just standing on the sideline shaking my head (saying), 'What do we have to do to stop him? … He's a competitor, he's accurate, so I'm excited about that."

Pretty odd assumption figuring you have never seen Chip Kelly's NFL system...

Chip Kelly: 'Everybody's gonna get a shot [at starting QB job]. And the best player's gonna play.'

Foles will show improvement from year 1 to year 2. Will Vick? Did he show improvement from 10 to 11 to 12?

Even if Chip Kelly would've said, there's absolutely NO CHANCE LET ME REPEAT NO CHANCE the Eagles trade Nick Foles, people would've said he's saying that so the Eagles don't lose any leverage in trade talks.
