Rockets coach Kevin McHale is clearly hoping the cap room is eventually spent on a big-time player, though he's not about to assume as much.
"I've never seen Cap Room score a basket yet though," McHale said recently. "I've seen old Cap, and his last name is Room, I've yet to see him put a hoop in, haven't seen him block a shot, haven't seen him get a rebound yet. But when Cap Room starts putting up numbers, we should be in great shape."

If that doesn't describe the Eagles over the last half-decade of the "Gold Standard", I don't know what does...

What are you talking about? Are you saying the Eagles don't spend their money?

A few years back there was a report that showed how teams spent over the course of like 5 years or so, and the Eagles were in the top 3.

I have no idea where you got the idea that the Eagles are cheap. Did you happen to miss the offseason of 2011?

Two different sports, two different cap structures.  The Eagles manage their cap on a holistic view over the years. Sometimes it's higher and then they have room, but then they put it forward into a different year where they need it.

The Eagles have plenty of reasons why they've struggled the last couple of years, and not won a playoff game in quite a few, but lack of spending isn't one of them.

It's not about spending, it's about getting the right players that fit what your team does on O & D, we have done well (Emmons & Runyan), and signing Namdi made no sense when we had Asante. also, why bring in players if you are not gonna use them or to their strengths ( Spikes, Witherspoon, Ronnie Brown, Steve Smith), or bring in players that you don't need (Vince Young). Or bring in players and make them play a position they are not suited at ( Simoneau, D'Hani Jones, Darren Howard)

They basically abused the LTBE system.  Not much of it counted towards the cap.   Most years, reflecting back on the decade, they were closer to the minimum than 100% (7).

imo the eagles had given reid more than enough talent to win not 1 but multiple championships. this isnt fantasy football or even baseball where you can buy championships. i cant blame them for us coming up short i blame reid with his run n shoot offense and undersized defense

Confused... whenever there was a big time FA out there... the Eagles generally make a move... and more times than not... they get their man (for better or for worse).  The issue has been poor drafting... not spending.

1. Cap space in the nba is incredibly advantageous if you're smart

If there is one thing we can all agree upon is that Howie Roseman is some sort of cap wizard.

I'm not concerned that the Eagles will ever miss out on a player they want, or be burdened by contracts as long as he is around.

while kevin is right in a sense you also cant spen your way to a title especially in football. yes you gotta have some great players but your not gonna have 53 great players you need a coaching team that can maximize what the players have on your roster and play together and for each other

chemistry!
