Looks like Chip is pulling a trick out of Reid's hat.  He wants to coach Foles?  I hope so, yet I feel it may be a decoy to up his value to others like Reid.

I like the kid.  I have since the start of preseason last year.  I hope Chip is sincere about this.  Maybe I'm too use to the old ways.

I don't know if your post is a Reid reference or not.  Regardless, coach speak isn't limited the the Eagles organization; it's rampant through out the league.

I don't know why it bothers fans.

That's one thing I'll flat out never get, this whole "he lied" stuff with coaches.    What the f**** do you think he's going to do, publish inside information for everyone to know? Would fans prefer hearing the innermost thoughts of management on personnel and scheme beforehand, or seeing their strategies work in actual practice because they kept the opposition off balance even a little and gained an edge?

I've said this before, but the one thing I never took issue with Reid about was his handling of press conferences and interviews (other than kissing national media a** to get favored treatment).    He said nothing, as it should be.    Coaches that shoot their mouths off to the media generally live to regret it - look at virtually every great coach, and you'll see guys who knew how to work and use the media, and 'control the message'.   It might be the only thing I ever respected about Parcells - the media was so cowed by him and essentially did his bidding.

Forget what the hell Kelly says - when the results are here, that's the time to pass judgment.

I think words are largely meaningless right now, but I truly believe that the Eagles are going to keep Foles and that they are genuinely excited to see him in person and work with him. That doesn't mean they will stand still at QB, but I don't buy the rumors about "trade" or making Foles available.

I think the deal is that Howie really likes Foles and when they interviewed Chip it was part of the deal. Chip does not want him but his hands are a bit tied and to me that's a good thing because I am a Foles fan.

What a bizarre statement.      I'll never get the mentality of being a "fan" of a certain player at the expense of the team.      We saw a whole lot of that with Vick.

As an Eagles fan, I'd think the best approach with a new coach is to give him the players he believes will suit the system he is installing.      To believe it's a "good thing" to force players on a coach he might not want is just very strange.     To me, anyway.

On top of that - to think any coach would stand for having players forced on them is just as bizarre. If you have Peyton Manning or Tom Brady than you look for a coach that fits their skill set. If you have Nick Foles, you hire who you want as HC and let him decide Foles fate.

Reid lied all the time about everything, he is a hideously dishonest human being. All coaches evade, all coaches obfuscate, few look you in the eye and stone cold lie to you the way Reid does, whether its about the evaluation of his players, his relationship with Banner, whether he had final say or whether there was a power struggle, whether he was just focusing on the next game while he was recruiting assistant coaches and lining up his next gig...a stone cold liar. And don't tell me all coaches do. Dungy didn't, Buddy told you everything that entered his brain. Coughlin calls out players routinely. Reid forged new ground.

And if he had done the right things between the lines and won championships, who the hell would care even a little bit?        That's my point.

If Reid won Super Bowls in 2003, 2004, and 2006, are you seriously worried whether he's telling you the truth in press conferences?        All I'm saying is that it was the flawed product he delivered that was the issue to me, not how he answered a bunch of hack media guys' questions.

There's only 2 things I don't want the Head Coach to say in a press conference, because neither are good for the team:

1. I have a detailed plan to improve this team and here it is..................(gives plan).

2. I have a detailed plan to make this team worse and here it is............(gives plan).

The rest is just the rest....and I don't care.
