yeah i totally agree with you there about reid.

juan was not the problem. we went from a serviceable D to an absolute embarrassment under bowles.

the whole team had mostly quit by the time Bowles took over,  and the first two games he faced two of the best offenses in the league,  both of whom were better than all the offenses put together we faced while Juan was still here.

Juan was garbage and clueless.  A couple of blown leads here and there is one thing,  but it being an every week thing is pathetic.

Good post BUT didn't Reid do the same thing???

He didn't go after many high priced FA's the first couple years...I'm not going to count Runyan because OL guys who have proved them selfs in the NFL aren't really a big risk no matter what the cost

You mean when we were winning?

we have to make it to the playoffs and then win out from there

pretty simple if you ask me

The best way to win a Super Bowl is to win a Super Bowl.

Easy peezy.

Listening to Baldy and DeCamara yesterday afternoon got me pretty amped about this 2013 season. They were talking about how the NFL has never seen anything like what Chip Kelly is going to bring to Philadelphia. The pace, the formations, even on extra points... it's going to be a wild season.

Chip made some interesting comments in an article a couple weeks ago about special teams.

http://www.philly.co...l-Meetings.html

Quote

“A lot of our decisions came in the kicking game. If you don’t have a guy that can kick a long field goal what are you going to do when the ball is on the 37 yard line. Will you kick a 52-yarder or are you going to punt it? If it goes in the end zone you have a net of 17 yards. Or do you go for it because you have a good defense and you’re not averse to putting them on the field on the 37 yard line. Those weren’t statistical decisions.”

On going for a two-point conversation in the Fiesta Bowl: “But we don’t go for two. We line up in an extra-point formation and if they don’t cover somebody we take the two points. It’s a different concept I think.

“If you remember that play we scored, they had nine guys on the field for the extra point because they were caught off guard that we could score that quickly so they couldn’t get their entire defense on the field. It wasn’t we’re gambling and went for two, they didn’t have enough guys on the field. We have a system in place where if you don’t line up correctly we’re going to steal two points. The reality and the perception are two different things.”
On using science: “No math, but science.

“Those are resources that are available to everybody. We’re trying to put our guys in a  position to be successful so why not rely on what the experts say is the right thing to do or wrong thing to do.”

You can't be serious.........the bowles/washburn experience was a complete and utter disaster. Yes we took on the saints and falcons I'll give you that but Bowles made cam newton, tony romo twice, and virtually every other qb we faced last year look like a hall of famer. They didn't hold anybody under 30!! That being said they played much better against the bucs, bengals, and redskins down the stretch and seemed to be coming together as a team (i certanly didn't see anyone quit in those games).  When vick came back against the giants.......yep they quit as soon as he squandered that onside kick recovery and threw a pick on the opening possession.

Back to this whole lead blowing thing you under juan you have too look at it both ways. In 2011 yep we blew alot of leads and our offense in the 4th quarter also did zip zero. In 2012 you've got to be kidding me ....they held onto a one point lead in the ravens game, they  won us the browns game inspite of vick, and held on to a two point lead against the giants (again holding their opponent under 20). You can fault them for the lions and steelers games if you want but come one man ....big ben is big ben and something defenses crack. Vick fumbling on the goaline sealed our fate with the steelers. In all those previous games and that one included he failed to give our defense more than a one score lead at anytime in the game.
The lions game....yes the defense completely collapsed but let's be honest again. The offense had two chances to run out the clock and went 3 and out twice and then proceeded to get the ball first in overtime and not only went 3 and out but went backwards inside of their own 10 yard line !!

As a whole the juan defense far outperformed the bowles one and in closing the defense is primarily responsible for all 3 wins we had with vick at qb this year !!

I love it!  A man who's never coached in the NFL is going to come in and own this league.  I hope I'm wrong but I see Steve Spurrier 2.0.  I thought it was time for Andy to go however if Chip is anywhere near as good as Andy we'll be lucky.

The "me first" attitude of high priced veterans has killed this team... and many teams around the league. The ones that have enjoyed sustained success, like the Patriots, have rosters filled with guys who may not be the most athletic or skilled but are system guys and are committed to doing whatever it takes to win.

Chip Kelly expects every single player on his team to work harder, study longer, and stay later than what most veterans are willing to do. The days of bringing in high-priced, selfish veterans looking to cash in are over. This is going to be a young team with a roster that is constantly in flux. Most players that are established in this league are going to steer clear of the Eagles... and I'm perfectly fine with that. If they don't want to put in the work then F'em.

I 100% expect the Eagles to win a SB with Chip Kelly. He won't tolerate guys quitting and not putting in the work it takes to win.

Call me an idiot, homer, whatever... I can't wait to see what the future brings. Long live the Eagle_smiley.jpg !!

You're not an idiot, it's the Joe Gibbs Redskins mentality, it's the Mike Krzyzewski basketball coach from Duke mentality.   You choose players that are fighters, not based on talent.   Andy Reid USED to be that guy until his drafts couldn't make up for the loss of talent.   Reid lost his way with TO, and he never recovered.  Reid became greedy because his drafts were horrible.  Let's hope Kelly and Roseman know how to draft.  Duke basketball players in the NBA are complete jokes, except for Grant Hill, and Christian.    There's a reason, I think Chip Kelly is doing the same with the Eagles.  It's not one part, it's the sum of the parts.   That's what has been missing since.........2005?
