Reports are coming out that the Niners are telling teams a deal is already done. The Jags are saying it isn't them. Rumors are now coming out it is the Chiefs.

This could affect the Eagles if true. I doubt they take Geno Smith and could take Joeckel if they land Alex Smith. Also, it takes them out of the Foles race.

Hopefully it's not the Chiefs, but probably is. I don't get it, would MUCH rather have Geno and Albert than Alex and Joeckel.

Alex Smith is a decent QB....he got shafted by Harbaugh, IMHO.

Check your sources.  Last time Jason LaConfora came out with breaking or controversial news, he had egg all over his face.  This from Eliot Shor-Parks on Twitter:

Eliot Shorr-Parks @EliotShorrParks

Chances are the team that has the deal in place with the 49ers for Alex Smith is the #Eagles, and Roseman is just trolling LaCanforna?

Thanks, I thought it was a little early for the 49ers to announce a trade.

I call BS.  I don't see any benefit in them announcing the trade now if it were truly set in stone.  From SF's POV it boosts Smith's value, and from KC's POV they gain leverage on any other free agent QBs.

I have no doubt the Chiefs and 49ers have had talks and may well have offers in place, but these talks have been suspiciously well documented by the media. Seems sketchy IMO.

I am livid about this.  For years he was here and refused to get a QB who would actually execute his offense properly.  The closest we ever got was when backups were in, and people would rant about how it was working because he "changed the play calls." Right...It's not that the plays were just being executed properly.   He put to much value on guys who could improvise.  Now he leaves here and the first thing he does is get the perfect QB for what he wants to do.  So unfair.  Superbowl within three years for the chiefs.  Something he denied us for over a decade with his QB choices.

So you're pissed because there's a third hand rumor about a trade that can't even happen yet, is that what you're saying?

He got McNabb and sat back.  Now he's getting his guy and will probably hold him too long too before regressing to what you saw recently.

What we saw recently?  You mean a team loaded with "me first" losers?  Guys who run the fastest but are the last ones to practice and the first ones to leave?  We certainly didn't have Ray Lewis or Tom Brady on this team.  I have no idea who made those roster decisions.  I'm sure plenty of whatever was behind all that is still in the offices in Philadelphia.

Yep.  Why else would they say that and potentially convince some team to not make a bid?  Market ain't there.

Well Dilfer said Andy wanted Smith when he was with the Eagles and considered adding him but didn't so can't see why he wouldn't now especially if it doesn't cost him a first rounder. You get a guy who is 19-5-1, 32td total td in less than two full seasons the past two years and that has gone to the NFC title game. Harbaugh helped turn Smith around and Andy has proven he is a good QB mentor so it's the best fit for Smith. KC also has a lot of young talent, were a sleeper pick by many in 2012 to make the playoffs. Wouldn't be shocked in a weak AFC West where Denver is the only legit contender if KC makes some noise, wins 8 or 9 games and is one of the rebound teams in 2013.

He had Gore, Davis, and Crabtree yet could not get anything done.  Talent was there on offense everywhere but QB.  The only reason he had success was because Harbaugh dumbed down the offense to the point where he could execute something.

Seriously.  He had no offers in free agency last year. What does that tell you?
