Taking a LB'er in the top 5 is risky, IIRC LT was taken #2 overall in 1981, since then what LB was taken in the top 5 that was an "impact" player?.

Aaron Curry- Bust

Lewis, Urlacher, and Willis where not taken in the top 9 IIRC

And all that means what, exactly?

There are a ton of busts at every position, Rodney, you know that.         I don't buy all this "history" garbage with the draft - in football, so much depends on where a player goes, and what kind of coaching and scheme he is in.

We had plenty of players here that fans called 'busts' that were horribly misused by the genius that is now mercifully gone.      If some of those same players had gone somewhere with a sane system that actually utilized their strengths, their careers might have been totally different.

History tells us to stay away from USC QB's and FSU DL men

Until one of each becomes great.

History told us to stay away from Cal QB's as well.       How'd that work out in Green Bay?

Steve Bartkowski and Vince Feragammo ring a bell?

What's your point, anyway???

Rodgers is from Cal, and is on a Hall of Fame pace.      Those others weren't so good.      Want to go through every position at every damn school?

I don't see the point of projecting players based on a school's history - each player is unique, and again, it depends to a large extent where he goes and how he's used.

I'm sure if Chip feels that strongly about him, there would be some merit to the pick.
I assume and hope that Gamble's and Howie's opinions carry more weight than Chip's.
