I was reading an article by Geoff Mosher, and he was saying that he heard that it was a done deal that The Eagles were moving on from Aso and DRC. He also was saying that the Eagles may move Boykin to the outside, and strongly pursue the slot corner from the Texans in FA. Obviously if that were the case, the Eagles would really only have to find one starting outside corner. How upset would you be If our corner situation next year was Boykin, Marsh (or a draft pick like Milliner, Rhodes, Poyer, Trufant etc.), and Brice McCain (Texans slot CB).  Do you think Boykin can play outside? He seemed to really hold his own as a rookie in the slot last year, but we all know they are drastically different positions.

He did good in the slot but I am not sure how he would do on the outside. I can't remember but did he play outside in college? DRC couldn't play slot to save his life so the transition seems to be difficult.

Marsh played better than Aso last year.
We’re going to suck next year anyway.

Obviously if we let Aso and DRC go, we need to pick up several CBs in either draft or FA. There are a bunch of mid tier CBs who would be an improvement over Aso.

i think it would be a mistake to have boykin on the outside. kid's only 5-9 and only just finished up his rookie year. Not completely sold on marsh, just havent seen enough games with him.

i just think he's better suited for the slot. if he was on the outside, i think he would be horribly abused.

Hard to say.  Mosher was only speculating about moving BB to the outside though ("If the Eagles think Brandon Boykin has the skill set to play outside ... ).  I'd bet they'll take a look at him there in their first mini-camp though.

Has Curtis Marsh officially been written off?  It didn't seem like he got on the field very much last season.  There must be a reason.

I'd rather keep Boykin in the slot and get Sean Smith and Dee Milliner for the outside.

Getting Sean Smith, AND Dee Milliner isn't going to happen. Smith wants WAY too much money for his production. Unless the dude comes cheap, the Birds ain't signing him. Do we really want a guy that seems to dog it here again anyway?

what makes you think that. we've got exactly 0 to go on with this new regime and how they value certain positions/free agents.

BTW Mosher apparently heard that the Eagles were talking pretty seriously about this McCain guy. Why would they pick up a slot corner unless they felt like Boykin could play outside? It isn't like Boykin sucked. He was good. Seems like a feasible experiment to me. I am sure they are going to draft corners, but I doubt that more that one will be able to start year 1.

He has shown questionable effort, and his numbers were terrible. Would they want a guy like that under a new staff with a new head coach? Especially at the same pay as a Brandon Carr??

Boykin seemed lost at times last year. Maybe he'd fair better on the outside, but he might get abused due to his 5'9" frame.  Honestly, I'd rather the FO restructure Nnamdi and draft a corner to compete with Boykin for a spot on the outside.

yes i do because he's got the speed, he's got the same speed as nhami 4.4 although he's smaller, i dont think that's an issue, plus marsh is 4.4 as well and mccain is 4.3, i think this will work out. i want speed on defense.

No he wasn't. He wasn't horrible, but he could play a lot better.

Boykin is short but he's proven he has ridiculous hops so I'm not really concerned about the height mismatches.

Marsh was okay from what I saw - better than Nnamdi anyways.

I think having a living breathing safety will make the CB play look so much better though.

If we let Aso and DRC walk (which I beleive will be a mistake. We should be able to get some production out of one of them with the new regime), then we almost HAVE to draft Millner and pick up a solid starter in FA.

Boykin is not an outside CB. Picture him covering Julio Jones, CJ, Fitz and AJ Green. They are much taller and can jump too..

Wow that's scary.  Yeah we definetly need Milliner and a pair of safties to help out.  Man we're screwed.  We also need a free lancer to bait the QB and that's why I like  Matheui I don't care how much everyone hates the thought of us picking him because he can pay huge dividends in forcing turnovers.

One player said that about him, so it must be true. He played the best out of any member of the secondary last year, as a rookie, in the slot which is very difficult. I think he would fair better on the outside, because at least you can use the sideline to your advantage. Brown, and Sheppard weren't super tall CB's. They worked out.

I just looked over our roster and vomited profusely...so, who cares? There's nothing that can be done to this defense in one year, maybe even two that will make it competitive.

DRC is a free agent, so we'd have to outbid other teams. I don't see Howie trying to outbid other teams for a player that doesn't give 100% and shies away from contact. Some team will pay DRC. He has pro-bowl ability, but his ticker is the problem.
