    Mostert

He was cut by 6 teams from 2015-2016 and went on IR twice in the past two seasons. The 49ers are his 7th team now since 2015. Had their RB not been injured, he would be sitting on the bench or practice squad right now. Kid looks great now IF he stayed here he would've been on our practice squad and likely still cut eventually. When we cut him in 2015 we had Demarco Murray, Ryan Matthews, Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner. Mostert wasn't making this team no matter what unless it was maybe on special teams. Barner was a way better college player, more upside. Of course he didn't pan out as a RB but still is in NFL and had his best year on special teams in 2019 with Atlanta. Mostert wasn't a good college RB, did most of his damage on special teams and that is all anyone thought he would be in the NFL if he made it. He looked good in the NFC title game but that is only the second 100+ yard game of his career. I think people are over hyping him way too much based on one game but wish the kid the best. They might have a good thing there with him finally getting a chance but it has been said that fumbles have held him back in the past. More carries could lead to that again and he still has Coleman and Brieda to compete with. Mostert's career - May 2015 - Went undrafted - May 2015 - Signed by Eagles - September 2015 - Cut by Eagles - September 2015 - Signed to Dolphins practice squad - October 2015 - Released by Dolphins - October 2015 - Signed by Ravens - December 2015 - Cut by Ravens - December 2015 - Signed by Browns as kick returner - March 2016 - Signed 1 year tender w/ Browns - September 2016 - Cut by Browns - September 2016 - Signed to Jets practice squad - September 2016 - Cut by Jets six days later - September 2016 - Signed to Bears practice squad - October 2016 - Cut by Bears - October 2016 - Signed to Bears practice squad - November 2016 - Cut by Bears - November 2016 - Signed to 49ers practice squad - December 2016 - Promoted to 49ers main roster special teams - September 2017 - 49ers practice squad - November 2017 - Placed on IR by 49ers - September 2018 - 4th string RB for 49ers - November 2018 - Placed on IR by 49ers - March 2019 - Signed 3 year extension with 49ers - September 2019 - 3rd string RB for 49ers - November 2019 - Starting RB for 49ers College numbers 759 rush yards/6td 2289 return yards/2td 2011: 108 yards/2td, 837 return yards/1td 2012: 85 yards/1td, 463 return yards/0td 2013: 37 yards/0td, 258 return yards/1td 2014: 529 yards/3td, 731 return yards/0td

  7. I too think that Jim Caldwell would benefit the Eagles at this stage of his life. He is a teacher foremost and an offensive coordinator second. Sort of like a Tony Dungy. Doug likes to call the plays and Caldwell at age 65 has already had his shot at Head coaching. Although he can be demanding from what I have read, he also lets his ego at the door. I believe that both Pederson and Wentz would benefit from being around him for a couple years. Of course since I will be 67 at my next birthday I can relate to Caldwell. He had a shirt on during a photo op that I also wear to my Grandson's football practice's that says "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" . That is my kind of guy. Not to mention that inspiring others can come in many forms. Of course it can be by good coaching but also by sharing your story, your struggles and how you managed to overcome your obstacles. In my opinion, Caldwell is the real deal.
  8. Interesting ... via Eagles/ Wentz / salary cap hits for NFL QBs 2019 ... Wentz ranks 21st in cap hit 2020 ... he ranks 15th 2021 ... 3rd 2022 ... 4th 2023 .. 3rd 2024 .. 1st as only he and Goff are under contract that long at the moment. We all know this will change as Mahomes, Watson, Dak ...etc are going to get paid .... Lamar Jackson too. If you look at realistically what is going to probably happen... restructure in 2021 .. and a new deal in 2023 when he will have turned 30 in December of 2022. By jumping ahead ... they can keep him paid at the top while keeping his cap hits down for a long time. He turns 37 in December of 2029. Stay healthy and the decade should be successful. Big draft coming up to help build the new core. Plenty of cap space to sign any free agents that you want long term as well. Very big off-season here!
  9. Again ... my quote... 3 weeks ago who would have thought that the path to getting to the SB for KC would have been .... getting a bye ... so Houston and Tennessee at home... then to play SF? When with a New England win over Miami ... they would have been pushed to the 3 seed, and the path could have been ... home wildcard game, at New England ... at Baltimore ... then vs NFC champ. BTW.... SF has 49 players signed and $15 mil of cap space going into 2020 ... Eagles have 58 players signed and $43 mil of cap space. SF is where they are .... they stayed healthy and they drafted well along that DL. If your path was for the 49ers to go 4-12 in order to get a top pick... that's great. Congrats. Lets not act like Bosa and their draft picks didn't contribute or that staying healthy wasn't a huge factor. The cap space argument ... has little effect. They signed some free agents, they should have had good cap space being that they sucked... I repeat, they sucked leading up to this year. Very easy for a team that sucks to have a lower payroll... kinda makes sense doesn't it. Now we see if they can win a SB and sustain 3 years of making the playoffs.... which again, was the Eagles path. We know that the Rams didn't make it 3 years in a row, which was your other team that you liked their business model. We give SF credit, they took advantage of their schedule and opponents injuries early in the season to grab a lead and they held off Seattle at the end there to keep the #1 seed. Lets see what happens the next 3 years
  10. Of course... you knew Miami was going to beat New England in week 17!

San Fran already had their QB. Very good coaching. Some top picks along the Dline. Their discovery of Kittle really blew the doors off.

I don’t usually want my players to talk trash. But I actually think we need a corner to step up and have that swagger. Maybe that can even be Sidney Jones. Something about that supreme confidence at that position.

Uhhmmm...I kinda did. Houston got an extra bump with Luck’s retirement. I’m not going to claim I predicted Tennessee. But New England didn’t look that great to me this year. Very vulnerable. I was pissed when we lost to them even. And I’m definitely going to remind you that I told you San Fran was coming. As many times as we’ve spiritedly debated the cap....I pointed out what they were doing as an example. And you’re talking about AR as a HC. Because he also coached Favre remember.

Did anyone notice his td celebration after his 1st td?

Point being he had excellent stats for a pre season player and he still didn’t get a chance. Barner, Murray, Mathews were the other RBs on that roster that year. Barner was barely used that year and actually had less production all season than most wet had in preseason. But then again look who our coach was!!!!

    NFC Championship: Packers @ 49ers

I don't think enough is being made about 3 playoff games being won without throwing for 100 yds. And none of them by Lamar Jackson! That is the most radical one year shift in the NFL I can ever remember.

Yes shanahan runs that zone blocking scheme that his dad ran with the broncos that produced 1 1,000 yard back after another with the most random players

If he did believe it then he needs serious help!

Perform due diligence absolutely! Though the longer they want the more potential options go off the table so there's a risk with that approach.

Kirk Cousins is the next Brees

I doubt he honestly believed it. Obvious troll thread is obvious. And when Cousins torched our pathetic secondary, he took way too much joy in it to be a real eagles fan anyway. So: Whatever. I'll miss my punching bag. (Actual photo)
  22. I think they want to exhaust every possible option and get it right after such a disappointing season with high hopes.
