What Pats fans are saying as their dynasty crumbles

It's hilarious that for years of cheating and spying and tuck rules and everything else pats fans were always crying that the team still had to do it on the field. Now, here they are crying about calls. What about the bail out defensive holding on the incompletion to force a punt that led to a TD in the first half? Not going to hear them talk about that one. Just cry babies. the worst of new England. Good win eagles, sorry your team is showing cracks or coming apart to the NE crybabies but you had the best run of all time. Find a horse and a sunset.

Ezekiel Elliott Suspended for 6 games

I'm sorry I should've been more clear, you're absolutely right about the schedule. I was thinking it would surprise me if Dallas brought him back and exposed him to risk on the last game of the season. I think it would be a limited set of circumstances. If they've missed the postseason I don't see it. Leave him on ice and don't risk a crazy ACL or something in a meaningless game that would cost him 2018. Likewise if their ticket is punched and they won't overtake us in the div for potential home field, no way they play him in what becomes a pretty meaningless game in a wide open NFC. So you rest him or give him a snap or two to warm him up before the starters go out. So in other words they'd have to avoid those two scenarios and need a week 17 victory to make a wildcard berth. Hopefully week 17 won't mean a thing for us, but I think it's even money that if he's suspended we don't see him this year.

I've been saying i think there's a solid chance he plays the entire season but the bottom line is this works in our favor even if the six game suspension hits. If he'd just taken his medicine this would have been over weeks ago. Now he might miss 2 games against us. Fine by me..... Though i think Rod Smith is a sleeper

Sure, just making the point that the stats are misleading. Throwaway cases tilt the scoreboard. Not all cases are created equal and some are far more viable and likely to be heard.

Sure and you could argue that you should never pass the ball because only 1 in 85 NFL attempts results in a TD. Look at the numbers when you start on the five yard line and it's a little different than when you count hail Mary's and plays from your own ten. Appellate litigation is the same. These courts filter through a lot of hail Mary's. This isn't that

No need to get defensive. It's a discussion board. Not fighting with anyone, I'm having a discussion. And you didn't just say that you said what you did, that it's 98% and that he has 24 hrs. Just trying to set th record straight and provide some clarity. Relax man

    1. Court can stay the suspension in advance of the hearing. This is one purpose of the 24hr hold. 2. Same court doesn't mean same judge/panel. Not like supreme court. 3. This case hasn't been heard on the merits yet and a federal judge has already called the NFL's reading of Brady II "just plain wrong." The procedural issues may shake out and mean zeke sits a bit, but the NFLPA has shown a reasonable chance of success. The NFL is reading Brady II to mean that the NFL's process doesn't need to be fundamentally fair. That has not been decided by the second circuit. Initial signs suggest the court doesn't agree with the NFL on this. One interesting outcome is that Zeke could be denied the preliminary injunction and then eventually on the merits, having served the suspension. The entire situation is a mess, but its an interesting issue from the collective bargaining perspective. And not to split hairs but it isn't that Zeke only has 24 hours to file an appeal. The judge denied the request for an injunction, but stayed that ruling for 24 hours to give Zeke time. He can petition the 2nd circuit for an emergency hearing, or ask for a stay in advance of the hearing. The judge's order departs from other rulings, like brady I and starcaps, and says that missed games do not constitute irreparable harm. That's a tough sell. It's not just game checks, its stats, it affects future contracts, playoff berths and a chance to seek a championship, etc. Not a lost cause to get that reversed. Sure, it's likely that Zeke misses time. But its not 98%, and its not near zero. It's not even an appeal on the merits yet, the case has not been heard or briefed. Not over by a long shot, and your read on the procedure isn't spot on.

As much as I hate to say it I think Zeke/NFLPA has a decent argument to make. Put simply, do we as American citizens have a right to fundamental fairness or can we bargain that away? The second circuit hasn't ruled on this yet, nor has the supreme court, but there is a decent argument to be made that from a public policy standpoint we won't allow someone to bargain away their right to fundamental fairness. Is it a fundamental right of due process that we are entitled to or can we bargain that away? In my mind, it is fundamental and courts would not be eager to eviscerate their own power to review collective bargaining for fairness. wont surprise me if zeke wins it.
