Giants fans, Talk About The Giants

I think that Eli WILL get into the Hall of Fame. I don't think that Eli SHOULD get into the Hall of Fame. The two Super Bowl wins, especially the one over the undefeated Pats, will get him in. He was durable and has played for long enough to accumulate big numbers on passing yards, TDs, etc. But he was never a top 5 QB in his era, has a career .500 record, never led the NFL in any notable QB categories ... except for interceptions, which he did three times. He's look great at times, awful at others and has mostly been average to above average. I don't think he's ever looked great for a sustained period of time, certainly not over any entire season. I know that my opinion will come across as biased because I am an Eagles fans but I really don't hate Eli. He had a very good career. Very good is not great. He should absolutely be in the NYG Hall of Fame. But not the Pro Football one. He is not an all-time great at his position.
  2. Genius??? The cap can always be maneuvered but the Cowboys have cost themselves so much money in waiting to do these deals that it's not even funny. The price tag goes higher every day & every deal that gets signed before they get around to it.
  3. Jerry had all the leverage & Zeke still made him pay. 😀

The Double Doink Broke Matt Nagy

Karma for not paying Robbie Gould ...
  5. The problem is Zeke. Dak will get paid because QBs, even merely above average ones, get paid. Cooper will get paid because good to great WR get paid. The problem is paying a RB big money. It's just not a smart decision cap-wise.

Daks Agent wants $34m per year

But Wentz has already been paid and Dak has not.
  7. There's a rumor that Douglas has turned the Jets down, supposedly over a salary disagreement of $1M.
  8. They lost their baby boy at 15 weeks.
  9. Yes, we know. But it is bizarre that you bump this thread every few months, just to restate it.

    Is Tyreek Hill's career over?

Docking the team on what basis? The guy was eligible for the draft. The Chiefs haven't violated any rules. And do you honestly think the NFL cares? They don't. The tape came out on Thursday before the draft & the NFL/NFL Network made no mention of it until the next day. They didn't want to take the shine away from the draft. I hope he never plays again but he will. Talent trumps character, unfortunately.

    David Irving suspended indefinitely

I don't disagree. BUT, weed is still illegal, still appears on the list of banned substances, and these guys get paid a ton of money. If they can't lay off it, even with that kind of incentive, then I don't feel sorry for them.

    Case Keenum Traded To Washington

Which also involved the Broncos picking up half of the reworked salary in Year 1.

2019 Hard Knocks - Who gets it this season?

Raiders or Giants made the most sense. Raiders for reasons noted above & Giants because it's New York.

    David Irving suspended indefinitely

If I am DeMarcus Lawrence, my price tag just keeps going up ....

    Randy Gregory suspended indefinitely

Gregory is an idiot ... time for the Cowboys to cut ties. But between this and David Irving, somewhere, DeMarcus Lawrence's agent is smiling.

    Was Super Bowl LIII Fixed?

I'd have actually thought the opposite ... that, if the Rams has won, it would have justified their being there in the first place despite the no-call in the NFCCG. It was clear from the National Anthem that the Rams weren't going to win, though. The camera panned down the sidelines & Goff looked scared out of his mind.

Ravens trading Joe Flacco to Broncos for 4th rd pick

Most players aren't in the situation Foles finds himself in. All he has to do is refuse to sign an extension and he can force his way to free agency. The smart thing for him to do would be to do that. I don't know that he will, and I hope the situation resolves in a mutually beneficial way, but the best move for Foles would be to land on the open market. Also, the potential trade partners isn't exactly extensive. Assuming the Eagles will refuse to trade him to the Giants or Skins, and with the Broncos out of he mix, who does that leave? Probably only Jacksonville & Miami. I think the Dolphins will draft one, plus their cap situation is prohibitive. That leaves Jacksonville ... which automatically gives them some leverage of their own. Maybe Cincinnati?

Ravens trading Joe Flacco to Broncos for 4th rd pick

I don't think they are screwing him over. I think that both sides understand that it's a business and, if they can find a way to make a deal that is mutually beneficial then they will. If not, both sides will do what is best for them, as they should. I'm not saying that Foles will play hardball so that his potentially acquiring team keeps its picks ... I'm just saying that he could, in answer to your question about why he could potentially be a fly in the ointment.

Ravens trading Joe Flacco to Broncos for 4th rd pick

You could make the argument that it doesn't make sense for Foles to allow a team to give up draft pick compensation to acquire him when he could just sign with them as a FA (potentially for more money) and that team would have the draft picks still with which to build around him. They did pay him the million and then turned around and squeezed him for two million,
  20. I would be inclined to say the game. If you lose it, no one says you had a "Super Bowl losing season." Obviously you don't get to the championship game without a successful season, which is why I don't discount Wentz's contributions, but the championship is a single game.

Ravens trading Joe Flacco to Broncos for 4th rd pick

The Broncos should try to flip Keenum to the Giants. He worked with Shurmur in Minnesota & is more mobile than Eli, which is needed behind their atrocious OL. If they can get a 5th or 6th for him, and dump his salary, it would be a win for them. And for us because that would solve the Foles to NY dilemma. 😉
  22. I absolutely credit Wentz with being a huge part of our Super Bowl season. His play on the field put us in position to get the #1 seed and home field advantage in the playoffs. Foles has credited him with helping him prepare and coaching from the sidelines. He was a good leader and helped shape the culture of that team, which we now know was special. However, if he played here 10 more years and we never got back to (or won) the Super Bowl, I think that ultimately his career would be viewed as a disappointment. He'd always get only partial, but not full credit, for the Super Bowl because he wasn't on the field. Furthermore, what we still don't know is how he will handle the pressures of playing in the postseason. His contemporaries, like Goff, Mahomes, Trubisky, Prescott, are all gaining this valuable experience while Wentz is sidelined. Bottom line is, we still don't know if he can get it done when it counts. I still believe in Wentz but I think you'd have to credit Goff for his SB win more so than Wentz, should that play out on Sunday.

    Ongoing Derek Carr Thread

That was always the issue. Nobody ever said that Carr sucked. It's just that rstarter spammed the entire board, every forum, every thread with his blowhard claims about how transcendent Carr was & how much Foles sucked. There was no possible way that Carr could have lived up to the rstarter hype. The fact that Foles won the SB, while being named MVP, followed by a Carr flameout is just icing on the cake!

Are Eagles worst team in division

I wonder if he's hurting his chances by continuing to play?
