Yeah, "buying" a team. They won 10 games last year, the division, and return every key starter. Out of 22 starters from last year, they will likely replace 2 with draft pick rookies (Watkins, Jarrett) and likely 4 or so with free agents, depending on how camp and preseason battles go. (Asomugha, Babin, Harris, and Jenkins) The national media consensus is that the Eagles re-built the entire team in UFA, but that is simply not even close to the truth. Two of the "big" names they signed, Ronnie Brown and Vince Young, are backups on one-yr deals. Unlike what Washington used to do, which was given any free agent, young and old, a blank check, the Eagles didn't do that. And Washington used to trade draft picks away like they were garbage, while the Eagles have actually managed to "add" picks to next year's draft, including a valuable 2nd rounder.

I can't see McNabb as their starter next year. Shanahan went out of his way to humiliate him last year. That coach is the king at deflecting blame for his own failures. If Snyder keeps McNabb, it humiliates Shanahan...who will then do everything to get out of his contract. Of course, Shanahan is a painfully mediocre head coach still living off glory from 13 years ago, (wait, isn't that when he lost the HOF QB that he inherited? Weird coincidence.) so maybe Snyder would be doing himself a favor by keeping McNabb...

Portis was done before this past year. He's only 29, but there is alot of mileage on him. No reason for the Skins to keep him around.

It would make no sense to franchise Moss. He's going to be 32 years old this year and clearly isn't part of any long-term plans for a team that clearly wants to go young. No reason to keep him around.

This is what I don't understand. Shanahan has done squat in his last 10+ years of running an NFL team. He has something like one playoff win since 1998. He was fired from his last job, and has done nothing in Washington this year. The team is a mess. Yet, because this guy won two SBs well over a decade ago by riding the HOF QB he inherited in Denver, I still hear people say he's a high quality head coach. He's medicore. At best.

The Eagles knew he had little left. That's why they traded him to a division rival. They got a young safety with star potential in Nate Allen for him, and a 4th. And they had a better QB (possibly two) waiting in the wings when he was traded. I'll take it. The Eagles played the Redskins for fools in that trade.

Are you seriously trying to use a win against the brutally bad, no QB, lame duck coach-led Niners as a vindication of any sort for your opinion of the Bucs? The Niners might win 5 games, and that's only because they play in one of the worst divisions in league history. You said they "looked damn good". I guess we have very different opinions of what "looking damn good" really means. To me, that's not beating 3-7 and 1-9 teams and getting trashed by the good squads. But like you said, we'll have our different opinions.

They've fattened up vs. an obscenely easy schedule. It's as simple as that. They are 0-3 vs. teams with winning records, losing those 3 games by a combined score of 88-40. It's as simple as that. 6 of their 7 wins have come against teams with a record of 3-7 or worse. Please don't tell me they are "looking damn good" when they get killed vs. good teams and call the win over the 4-6 Rams their "marquee victory". And while I have no idea why you brought up the '09 Eagles in a discussion about the '10 Bucs, but the '09 Eagles did beat the >.500 Falcons. Heck, at least the '09 Eagles beat a bunch of .500 teams, the '10 Bucs haven't even done that.

Huh? Bucs haven't beaten anyone all year. The two best teams they played, the Steelers and Saints, destroyed them. Overall, they are 0-3 vs. teams with winning records. They have 7 wins: Browns (3-7) Panthers (1-9) Bengals (2-8) Rams (4-6) Cards (3-7) Panthers (1-9) Niners (3-7) The combined record of the teams they've beaten is 17-53. So yes, their "marquee" win is vs. a 4-6 Rams team starting a rookie QB. Their offense is ranked near the bottom of the league. Their defense is middle of the road. They are a mediocre team that has fattened up with a soft schedule. What in the world makes you say they've "looked damn good"?

Yeah, that was great. That was the year the Redskins didn't make the playoffs and the Eagles won two playoff games and went to the NFC Title Game. Yeah, you sure had the last laugh that year. Amazing how Dan Snyder has lowered the fan expectations of a once-great franchise, to the point where they brag about meaningless regular season wins in a year they didn't make the playoffs.

Does this mean he won't get benched this week for Rex Grossman? Your team just gave up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for an 8-8 season and one year with an aging Donovan McNabb. Sweet. Some things never change in Washington. Maybe Shanahan, who has been the definition of mediocre since Elway retired 12 years ago, will still be considered a "top" coach.

Does a team even have to "prepare" for Rex Grossman? Dallas, or any other team, isn't falling for this one.

Celek is still developing. When he first go there he couldn't block me. He's gotten much better in that department, but still has a ways to go. On the receiving end, he's a monster. I know he dropped the TD last night, but he usually has great hands and is very good after the catch. Very productive player who will be instrumental if Kolb is to become a star. This is his 2nd year as a starter. I don't expect him to get 950+ yards again, but a 75 catch, 800 yard, 8 TD season is reasonable.

Hysterical. Cooley has one 800 yard season to his credit. In 5 years as a starter. In his first year as a starter, Celek almost had 1000 yards. Cooley has 3 TDs COMBINED in his last 2 seasons. Celek had 8 TDs last year alone. Oh yeah, Celek is alot younger. You can keep Cooley. I'll take the better player.

Yeah. 22 whopping yards, a 3.7 YPC, and a long run of 6 yards vs. a team that was 30th in the league last year against the run sitting half it's defense. Are you honestly impressed by that?
