Will there be an NFL season in 2020?

On balance, most major sports these days are best enjoyed on your HD flat screen.

Will there be an NFL season in 2020?

I, for one, think it’s going to be a long time until 80,000 people can safely attend an event together. If just ONE tests positive....well, we’re right back where we started. And frankly I’d be reluctant to be wedged into a plane going forward (until this, I flew dozens of times a year for business). It’s just going to be a long way back.

My bold prediction is that the second wave is less impactful because we will finally have our ship together so here goes: The NFL will kick off with a huge Football Feast Thanksgiving weekend. They play an abbreviated schedule - maybe 10 games - with a playoff tournament kicking off in early February and the Super Bowl in March.

I am not sure that there will be a NFL season...?

Update: the draft is a go as scheduled in late April but all public events have been cancelled. Also, a colleague with a company that does marketing work for the Seahawks says she's been told for planning purposes the league is considering pushing the start of the season back 30 to 60 days. Can't speak to its veracity but it makes sense.

    Rolling R-word's (Trademark Pending) updates..

Which is a gift to the rest of the NFC East. As is Jerry Jones.
  6. Can you imagine if this guy had followed Chip Kelly? But to their credit, Lurie and Howie got it right.

Had The Seahawks Won Sunday Night.....

No, they're not. And they don't need to. NFL stadiums are built for quick turnarounds and there's not a whole lot to do. The Saints would have been the prime time game Saturday night; when that's over they switch out the graphics and billboards and it's good to go. Both teams would have access all day Sunday and Monday. Plus, New Orleans would be party central for a weekend like that.

Ex NY Jet Mark Gastineau Is Very Ill

    1. Revisionist history. Gastineau entered the league when Jimmy Carter was president. They had no idea about CTE 40 years ago. None. The league has a responsibility to it's alumni. 2. Eliminate helmets. Seriously. It's counter-intuitive but people will get their heads out of the way if they're not wearing helmets. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000299501/printable/current-former-players-suggest-doing-away-with-football-helmets
  9. Remember when Nike did the Kaepernick ad last fall and people burned their gear in protest, predicting the end of the company? Yeah. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/ct-spt-nike-record-high-colin-kaepernick-20180913-story.html Kaepernick is good for business. An inconvenient truth.

NFL Best Bets -- WEEK 9 (2-4-1 since Week 10)

    The agony of defeat brother.

NFL Best Bets -- WEEK 9 (2-4-1 since Week 10)

Hawkeye's Sure Fire pick of the week: I'll try New England - 5 vs. Minnesota. People love to hate the Patriots so the squares bet the Vikings down from a shaded +7 opening line to +5. Actions have consequences, so now you can get the Patriots laying less than a touchdown at home in December. New England for one unit.

I don't cheat, but am obviously a sucker....

NFL Best Bets -- WEEK 9 (2-4-1 since Week 10)

Not the NFL, but keep an eye on Ohio State getting as many as 5 points at home. This is the first time Buckeyes will be underdogs in Columbus since 2011, when they beat Russell Wilson and the Wisconsin Badgers, 33-29, as 8.5-point underdogs. The last time Ohio State was a home underdog against Michigan was back in 2004 (+5); the Buckeyes won, 37-21.

NFL Best Bets -- WEEK 9 (2-4-1 since Week 10)

Friday afternoon contrarian plays* for week 11: Carolina Houston Chargers Rams *75% (or more) of the public action is on one side, implying an over-value. Rams game is particularly interesting because the line moved out but almost all the action is on KC.
