[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

Not sure I get this huge pressing need the media is trying to make us have at DE...We went into the offseason thinking Long was gone(which he is) and addressed our DL accordingly.....Can’t see the 4th DE getting a ton of snaps this season hence the talks of Longs role being reduced and it has a ton to do with our additions at DT.....Having Malik now allows us to have another strong interior pass rusher next to Cox on passing downs without having to move a DE like Graham inside....If Graham stays outside more now on passing downs means less available snaps to other DEs and even after that the top backup to get the most snaps will be Curry I am not saying we won’t upgrade if given the chance to at DE but I also don’t view it as this glaring hole either that media outlets have been making it out to be

Also have to wonder what our FO will do with the power structure....Howie is the guy makes final calls but leans heavily on Joe opinion and the rest would he find a guy to be that replacement(is there a guy in the wings we would just promote ??? Sure there has to be) All I know is how ever our FO is being run right now is working really well would hate to see it get messed up

Joe Douglas is apparently the favorite for Jets GM job....That could really hurt us if he got hired since he also likely takes guys from our scouting department with him....

Sure I can I don’t think you get it is all....Cody gives competition to Suds both are guys that have been in the league for awhile Cody with plenty of game exp. good competition for Suds.....No reason to have either guy as a developmental guy they are past that it’s backup or nothing for them....Thorson on the other hand was drafted to be that developmental guy be that 3rd QB some to sit and learn in the wings I mean I guess Perez could be that also but again I don’t see him as anything more then a camp arm

There is a great chance both are better then the drafted guy he was a 5th round rookie these guys have had years in the league....But we drafted the kid because we liked him and think we can develop him hence why he is the 3rd developmental QB...... Cody and Suds are competing for the backup spot behind Wentz winner stay loser walks

To battle for the #2 spot We aren’t keeping Cody as the 3rd makes no sense

Disagree we have our developmental guy in Thorson that is in place the question is who is the top backup or Suds vs Cody

I see the QB depth has such Wentz-easy Suds/Cody- pretty much see this as Suds job to lose not expecting him to lose Rook-drafted to develop he is the 3rd guy Perez camp arm of Wentz is 100% good to go by camp would expect him to be released

I don’t view him as legit competition either not right now not for the backup job.....think he looks great as the 3rd QB has tools to work with and develop. The kid out of Northwestern

I disagree think QB 3 is locked in we are going with the rook....Cody is just competition for Suds at QB 2.....But it’s Suds job to lose would have to be terrible and Cody to excel to lose it don’t see that happening though....Perez or whatever always viewed him as a camp arm that’s it

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

Did anyone really think the AAF guy was legit competition to begin with????? I figured he was just a camp arm lol in case Wentz wasn’t ready....Cody gives Suds little bit of competition for backup job

I mean I have enough faith in Doug and the rest of our O to make our backups be game managers at QB....Anything more then that can’t say can’t have that confidence in a guy unless you see them do it(wasn’t long again most of us didn’t have faith in Foles going into the playoffs in 2017)

Interior OL if Brooks is out at the start seems like a spot for concern.... RB- still unknown but there success will play a part in how the OL

I mean TE not that hard to see why we had it rated highly have what top 2 TE in the NFL at starter and a 2nd year player that posted promising stats for a #2 TE....Lastly Richard Rodgers has had couple good years before might be the best 3rd TE...... Also when I considered the question i rated it vs other teams rosters how would I rank our TEs vs the rest of the league, same with DT,DE etc.

Think I have to agree with what most people have said already.... TE might have the best group in the NFL DT- have a great trio OT-healthy JP and Lane might be the best T tandem in the NFL(Big V is a proven backup and Dillard has high potential) DE- Graham is very good, Barnett is above avg. and could be very good....Curry I believe is a good player one of the better backup DEs in the league right now just those 3 make a good trio.....IF Long returns not sure any team has a better 4 man rotation at DE in the NFL....Even without Long think it might be hard to find a team with a better trio(even if we don’t have that Elite(Mack) caliber guy)

This Chris Long debate has been going on far to long lol.....Eagles seem to be making moves as if he isn’t coming back(smart) and if he opts to return great sure we will welcome him back....Not sure much else needs to be said on the front though all we can do is wait and see what he plans to do

Thought so to...Thought he had to retire cuz of a neck injury I would love to have Eric Berry but sure another team would be willing to offer more for his service hard to find good S.....

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

How I see the S position right now.... Jenkins/McLeod- Starters easy I know 3rd S- Sendejo- only proven S behind our starters has starting exp. and has played at a high level before 4th- Countess- makes perfect sense as the 4th adds great ST value and that what we seem to love from our bottom roster guys also could develop into more Sullivan/ SF S(not sure his name)- fighting for a spot would either have to completely beat out Sendejo or hope that Blake takes the 3rd spot don’t see us keeping Sendejo as the 4th
  21. BleedingGreen93

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

Think Countess is essentially a lock to make the team(or should say it’s his job to lose) in that 4th role Still see Sendejo as the top 3rd S though And one of the young bucks going to have to beat him out for the job as it should be he is the only proven S in that spot and he has played some good football

Jmatt was on the team until his final year were we traded him for a CB and had a plan in place to replace him in AG.... Can debate it all you want but Hollins isn’t going anywhere unless he gets another mystery injury
  23. BleedingGreen93

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

With him having no real competition yea Hollins as essentially a lock....He is toward the bottom of the depth chart STs is a must and he is clearly the best one of the roster for that...Plus Philly isn’t usually in the mrket of giving up on draft picks after only 2 years Even more so when year one for Hollins was extremely promising
  24. BleedingGreen93

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

Drafting the a great value player like Dillard doesn’t mean we don’t believe in Mailita....But maybe not a lock to make the team but I do believe we end up keeping him in the wings if we move Big V(that’s the big IF though)
  25. BleedingGreen93

[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

I believe Rodgers is a lock but I also see us carrying 4 TEs....As for Hollins he was great his rookie year he did exactly what you would expect from the 4th WR he flashed talent and was a stud Ster not sure where all the hate is coming from on him all of a sudden....The injury was weird for him but then again we had a ton of odd things going on last year with our medical staff.... As for Big V and AG think Joe hinted at the fact they were locks well at least AG) but also think he realizes they are the more likely trade candidates as well. As for LeBlanc I believe our CB room is set Darby,Mills,Jones,Maddox,Douglas,LeBlanc.....
