  1. I have not watched a game yet. I did hear there are some pretty whacky rules though! BG93, I am in for any player that will help our team. If this dude fills the bill great! Plus I went to WVU so he is OK in my book!
  2. How do you know the cap hit will only be 8-10 mil? Michael Thomas signed a 5 year deal and his cap hit was 32 mil the first two years. Evans signed a 5 year deal and the cap hit was 32 mil for the first two years. So Cooper 's cap hit will be only 18? Really?
  3. Good Morning Ham. Who the Eagles have ranked is anyone's guess. Maybe they have Reagor ahead of Ruggs. I have no clue. Point is, if they have a shot to get whomever they feel will be a game changer, They should do it without worrying about a late round 3 pick. As I said before, they probably will only need to move up 3 spots or so to get him. Not a huge climb IMO...
  4. Sound Logic BG93! I am in your corner on this one. What would be the best scenario is if no WR went until Indy at pick 13. Then there would be 2 left and I feel one has the be there by pick 18. if THERE ARE 2 I wait. If only one is left I move up to 18 assuming that guy is on their radar. Dallas would not be in the market if they sign Cooper to a long term deal. They would be if they tag him though...
  5. I see your point, but I disagree. You are not going to change my mind and I am not going to change yours. Let us just agree to disagree on this. I do not want to use 19.7 mil for one player when we need to get younger at so many more. You feel this is sound logic. We will see what happens. I did some research and the market value for Cooper is over 98 mil for 5 years. Maybe you have no issue, but I do. I would much rather grab Blake Martinez and Vic Beasley for around 22 mil per year than place almost that amount on one player. Keep in mind we will need Cap to sign all of our draft players....
  6. Good Morning Ham! First, I do not think the Eagles will trade up any further than Atlanta's pick at 16. That is only if they feel that their guy will be gone when Dallas picks. To get up that far, we are probably talking something like our 21, 85 and 140th picks. Granted, not the best of options, but if they feel that strong about their guy they might do it. But I think the Ruggs may last until LV picks so they only need to move up to Miami. That would only require 21 and 103. Possibly 190. That is a real possibility and I would do it in a heart beat if it means a stud WR or CB for the next 5 years....or longer.
  7. https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-belichick-new-england-patriots-draft-philosophy-2017-4#4-belichick-only-wants-to-coach-players-he-likes-4 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1158021-reviewing-the-pittsburgh-steelers-nfl-draft-strategy Above are two different ways to draft. Different strategies and both have successful teams annually. Point is that every team does it their way. What is the "Eagles way"? that is the question we all want answered.....
  8. I am not giving up on Jjaw yet either. Davante Adams did little his first two years. He ran a 4.54 40 so he is not a barn burner either. JJaw may do well this year. the game should slow down for him. Possibly better coaching and playing time with Wentz will help. Everyone says we do not have any starting WR's, but DJax will be healthy at least to start the season. Jeffrey will not play until the 3rd or 4th week, but he still can play the game. Either Jjaw or Ward may step up. Draft a starter round 1 plus 1-2 others later and we should be fine.
  9. Anyone see Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas play? I hear he is built like a RB (5-10 202 lbs) but runs a 4.48 40. Maybe we take a chance on him in the late rounds 5-6? Also, he might get faster if he has the ability to shed 10 pounds....
  10. Well, Cooper will be 26 in June. Same age as Jeffrey was when we signed him. Cooper was a 4.42 40 as compared to Jeffrey at 4.48. I would prefer we give him a 1 year "Prove it" deal then to tie up money like we did with Jeffrey. Tired of these long term contracts back firing on us. Some on here saw Cooper's production slide the end of the year, when he was needed most for Dallas. You feel this is a no brainer. I am not convinced. I guess time will tell in either case.
  11. Just looked and Jacksonville cannot get rid of Foles even if they wanted to. 33 mil in dead cap.... They have no cap space this year. Far worse shape then most clubs.... Gonna take a miracle to get them competitive this year...
  12. Well, I see your point Joe. I just do not want them to spend allot of cash on Cooper. I would much rather hit other areas of need where the draft is weak. My opinion, for sure, but others feel the same way. Others also agree with you. Neither of us are wrong. we just have different opinions of how to attack the FA. One thing is for sure. The mock drafts are all over the place. Seems no one really knows what the teams think. I wish Mayock was still doing the draft. He always seemed to know what other teams were thinking.... That is why I think they will do well in the draft with him as GM... I would like to take a shot at GB's Martinez. That would give a huge boost to the run and pass defense. The Eagles would finally have a solid LB which has been missing for years.
  13. I would love them to Sign Dak 32 per year 5 years, Then Tag Cooper with the thought of drafting a WR. Then Howie jumps in front opf them and grabs one! The joy I would feel....
  14. Plus Ward has shown signs he can play. Not a speed demon but he adds depth. Hope you are right about DJAX. 33 is not terribly old, but he is small and that comes into play as he gets older....
  15. Potential WR spots are Giants, Colts, Cardinals and Las Vegas. None have Dallas yet, but they did not sign Cooper. If Cooper goes elsewhere then Dallas is gonna grab one....
  16. Blake Martinez is a FA this year. I would love for the Eagles to get this guy! He would make an immediate impact for our defense in both the running and passing game.
  17. OK, Joe, I see that you wrote prior to this year. However, at the age of 33, do you really think the team can depend him suiting up for 12 games this year? This team needs to get younger. Use the FA to find young bodies that will help the team. They do not need to be stars, just solid players that we can depend on to do their job. Find the stars in the draft. You like Cooper. I get that. No guaranty he is available. Dallas spent allot of picks to get him. I doubt they let him walk for anything cheap. So you want to spend 17 mil per year on him? That might be around what it takes..... I keep reading that this is a very deep WR draft. Why place half our cap space on a WR FA when you can draft 2-3 starters? Maybe the best idea would be to go after FA's where the draft cannot help us?
  18. DJAX is 33. When he was younger he did not miss much time. But he will not see 14-15 games again...
  19. Not sure what you are looking at Joe, but DJAX missed 26 Games in the last 5 seasons based on Pro-Football stats. Starting in 2015 he played in 10, 15, 14, 12, 3. Regardless if it was 26 or 22, his health will not get much better at his age. Anyway, Having Ruggs or another Fast WR should be a priority. Although you like Cooper, I am against signing him. We already have a bundle tied up in Alshon. I really would prefer we try and get a star via the draft and have him for 4-5 years before we have to pay him.
  20. GBFL, Alshon is hurt and probably will not play at the beginning of the season, based from what I have read. DJAX has not played a full season in 10 years. So we can play Ruggs across from Djax Week 1. If Alshon comes back around Week 3-4 play Djax in the slot unless he is injured. Based on his history by the time Alshon is back he will be hurt, so we lose no time and have 1 capable WR's on the field each week. I really see having 2 speed WR's who can start as a good problem to have....
  21. I normally do not disagree with you my friend, but I looked at 6 mocks and none have more than 4 WR's taken before 21. 4 have 3 and one has 2 gone by 21. I feel the Eagles can grab a top 3 WR if they are willing to trade up to either Miami or Atlanta's pick. This would depend on Dallas signing Cooper or not. If Dallas does not sign Cooper they would have to jump ahead of them. If not, they only need to jump up a few spots. Grabbing one of the top 3 WR's is a must in my opinion. All are Day 1 starters and will contribute right away. Takes away the guessing game. I do agree if 4 are gone by their pick, we may elect to go another route. Maybe draft CB or S. If not then possibly trade back and grab another pick.
  22. Hill had off the field issues. Otherwise he would have gone round 1
  23. Good Point BG93. I feel there are 3 "Can't Miss" Wr's. The other two will be gone before Ruggs (at least I hope so). That is why I feel we need to possibly move up to get him. I am tired of drafting whomever falls to us, only to get the wrong guy. We need to get a stud, not someone we feel is a #1 talent, but someone that is a DAY 1 Starter.
