  1. Bottom line is Colleges cannot pay cash, but College athletes should get a free ride plus room and board. There is no reason this cannot happen. As for sponsors, I am not sure that will happen anytime soon. This would place one athlete above others, which is not what college is about. I would not complain if it came to be, but I can see it not happening.
  2. OK, now I understand why you were arguing the point. You cannot pay cash at all or it would not work..... of course, college educations are not cheap! My daughter's 4 years were over $50,000 and that was with grants! Add in Room and Board and you are talking about $80K- 100K over the 4 years per player. Nothing to complain about..
  3. Yes. All Players get same thing. An education, free room and board. Nothing else period. All colleges pay same, but can only pat a certain amount of roster. Say 55-60 for football.
  4. OK, I get that. But if no money is paid out the point is moot. Give player education, free room and a food card for the cafeteria. No money, just benefits. Nothing to negotiate. I cannot see how this would possibly escalate if ALL colleges did same thing....
  5. OK, so men generated 7 times the revenue... right? my math is bad today! They generated 42 times the revenue
  6. Is this Just for the US or globally? I would think countries like Italy and Germany would be all over the Mens WC vs Womens...
  7. Another thing to consider is that more college athletes may choose to stay all 4 years and actually get the diploma now that they do not have to concern themselves with coming up with the tuition. Good for the colleges and Pro Football. The player gets an extra year or two to develop and an education to boot....
  8. GBFL, We are not talking anything in terms of "pay". This is just free room and board plus college tuition. There is no "bargaining" chip to negotiate.
  9. I DO NOT THINK Ham is thinking millions of dollars. But I would think that College athletes should at least get free room and board while attending college. Many have to pay their own way and do not get drafted. My Wife's nephew is a prime example. He worked during college to pay for room and board and took out college loans for his first 3 years. The Coach was nice and gave him a free ride his senior year, but this does not happen often. Now, he was signed as a free agent by the Falcons, but there is no guaranty he makes the club. These college athletes should at least get a free ride. The Universities make billions on them so they can afford it.
  10. Something to be said for that MJK! ?Been Married twice and divorced once.
  11. Eagles play at Atlanta week 2. I guess I could get tickets if I wanted to take a second road trip. already going to Green Bay so does not make sense.... But I know people in Atlanta so I could stay for free...
  12. On another note, looks good for my wife's nephew to make the Falcons Squad. Coach told him he was his Number 1 rookie. No reason to tell a Free agent that unless he is impressing the coaches. He is getting married next year, so I may be able to get autographs. Not that I would want any lol....
  13. We can talk about stopping the run all we want, but we all know that everything is thrown out the window in NFC East games. You can go back 50 years and find lots of games where one team had no business winning the game yet somehow managed to. Bottom line is we need to win them whether or not we stop the run. Like GBFL says, just be up one more point when the whistle sounds.....
  14. Injuries will always be a question. Not sure why you would question our WR or our RB position. They are as strong as they have ever been. I am not sure we will use a 3rd LB much this year. It seems most teams are using a hybrid player that plays DB more than LB because of all these 3 and 4 WR sets. Anyone will be an improvement over Hicks if he can stay healthy. We all know Hicks could not.... I choose to look at the positives DWD.... I think we will all learn more once TC has arrived...
  15. GBFL, I am not going to Philly this year, but there are a few from the old EMB that are considering the Bears game on Nov 3rd. If anyone else is considering this game, I could put you in touch with them. One guy is flying from the UK...
  16. I sent you an email. As I said, we know where to go and can help you out. Maybe get together before the game? Go to Kroll's and have a beer and burger?
  17. For sure! Email- oldcoach813 at yahoo dot com. Send me an email and we can figure it out. There is a place right near the stadium who has awesome Burgers. My wife says best ever. I say really good lol
  18. ASG, I have 4 tickets bought and paid for in section 232 I think I know it is around the 20 yard line and between rows 21-23. We are staying at the Country inn and Suites. Leaving Tuesday night and returning Saturday. If you are going, we should hook up. My wife goes there every year and knows everything about the town, so probably a good person to be around lol
  19. Morning all! Been busy working on retiring. Still not able to yet, but there is hope! I see allot of discussion regarding back ups. Not sure what others think, but it gives me hope that no one is too concerned with the starting 22. Well except maybe guard if Brooks is not ready. Still, this all leads to a promising season. We may need another for my Eagles FF league. Ham joined last year so you can ask him how he likes it. Non money league, just bragging rights... Send me a message and let me know.
  20. Well, I hope your assessment is inaccurate Wrang. I would hate to see Joe go.... I think they are also looking at the Bears Scout.... The Bears have done great in the draft the past few years....
  21. Ham, I loved Star Wars, but the Jawa's were short little people. How do you get JAWA for Whiteside who is 6-3?
  22. Technically, HR is VP of operations and no one is the GM. Why not give that title to Douglas and a raise to suit? He still makes the same calls but now gets credit for them...... I do not think HR is all that control freak he used to be. He learned his lesson about how to Delegate and has done a great job of it....
  23. Deandre Thompkins is someone we all need to watch this preseason. Someone told me he was clocked at 4.33, but claims he can run in the 4.2's regularly. I am not sure, but this dude could be the FA signing we all look back on as one of the steals of the draft. Dude is solid at route running. 5'11" probably hurt his draft stock, still if he can run as fast as he says, we will be much deeper at the WR position. I did not watch much Penn State this year, so someone would have to jump in and let me know more about this guy..... They showed their inexperience last night. Things look promising once they get a deeper bench...
  24. Turns out my 4 horses (5,6,8,13) finished 2,3,4 and whatever. What makes matters worse, is my Step Daughter told my Wife she forgot to give me her horse. She quickly went thru the horses and said she liked Country House. My wife asked if she should call me to put it in and she said Nah.... Freaking horse won at 65-1 odds! If she decided to couple with my 4 she would have hit the Exacta and trifecta also.... Just wow.... I did manage to pick the winners in races 8-9 & 11 so it was not terrible. Coulda woulda shoulda lol
  25. Welp, My favorite used to be Vermeil until Doug did something he never did for the Eagles.
