I'm sure that you can't get into too much regarding Brown. Can you comment whether his surprise departure has to do with his play or something off the field. I can't fathom it being related to his calling out Cousins.

I believe that he was the scapegoat. Doug Pederson is trying to send a message to the players.

    Hi Dave:

The Eagles pass rush isn't as good as 2017 and with all the injuries, it seems like Howie doesn't really have a choice but to trade for a CB?  I can't see this team reaching the SB unless the pass rush magically gets better and unless the CBs get better. It would seem they need a legit CB like Xavien Howard, Jalen Ramsey or Chris Harris?  I hope Howie sees what we see.  Honestly, with our secondary struggling as it is, I'm not feeling that great about this team reaching the playoffs unless a significant piece is added.

Xavien Howard would be a perfect fit for this scheme, considering the fact that he played for Matt Burke. He also is cheaper than Ramsey. Chris Harris is too old for my liking.

They have Wentz, Sudfeld, Kessler and Thorson, and they have at least 2 former QB's on the roster with Ward and Miller. They will likely bring someone in, but named players aren't going to want to come in for just two weeks of work, so, it'll likely be someone like Luis Perez.

All I'm saying is that the Eagles could have signed someone last Friday. If Josh McCown wanted to come out of retirement, would you sign him to be your No. 2 QB?

more and more....the number ? unsure... but as the Saint's have made that kid Taysom a nightmare to defend..... we had our one TE toss a beautiful pass in that one game if we all can recall.... we have all heard about it being a copycat league... so whos to say seeing one of those guys won't spark another HC or OC to an idea ?

On a side note... the way you have spoken against it.... are you a QB looking for work ? or are you Ward ? Miller ?... if so can I at least get an autograph ?

OK....Enjoy the day... I have said my piece...... made my opinions....I have to get back to work.

I don't think it makes sense to have these guys play quarterback, when you have other quarterbacks on the street looking for work. Some of these free agent quarterbacks may even have some familiarity with the kind of offense we run.

maybe so... but again their chances of making the team are slim already.... and actually in the days of the double weapon that is becoming so popular these days.... it actually would benefit them to show they can still toss a ball decently.

But put yourself in their shoes. I don't think Doug Pederson would be that selfish to put those guys in that position to potentially jeopardize their opportunity of being on someone's active roster as a wide receiver.

A few of you guys are missing what @birdman#12is saying... and for the most part I agree with him.

bring in another QB ?.... fine..... then you have to school him in certain parts of the offense.

specifically ….. we're down to the end of preseason and we need to see particular things from certain WR's TE's and RB's.....

So you need to school this QB in a few routes that you were TRYING to make final evaluations on some wideouts.

THEN you need to school him in some options that you were TRYING to make decisions on the other TE's and WR's

BUT... you also need to school him in some plays for the RB's that you were TRYING to see some things on them.

ALL the while having your 2-3's on the O line adjust to a new signal caller and you were TRYING to make evaluations on those guys.

I'm not saying they won't sign an arm.... BUT if I could get away with it... I wouldn't... you would be asking a guy to learn a bunch of stuff quickly and try not to disrupt the offense any more than it already has been. To take a guy like Miller or Ward, whose chances of making the team are very slim at best, and have them toss a few is an easier adjustment for the entire offense...… they know the offense already.... and actually they know the routes and what a WR/TE/RB is supposed to do.... therefore with their knowledge it cuts down the potential learning time and mistakes..... you are trying to make final decisions on a bunch of guys.... that gets ten times harder when the QB has no clue and keeps making mistakes..... could you live with it for 2 weeks ? sure... but why would you set yourself back like that ?

Okay, but Miller and Ward are on this team to audition as a wide receiver for 31 other teams. So I don't think it's right to put those guys in that position.

Yes......and the reason is this.  The QB the eagles bring in would likely only be for practice and playing maybe 3-4 quarters in preseason games.  In those games, he would only be playing in a very vanilla offense due to a lack of practice reps and limited time learning the offense.  Ward and Miller playing QB in college and know the offense.

And with 2 QBs in relatively short injury times, they will be back close to, or right after, the beginning of the season.  What I'm saying is the time frame is simply too short to even bother with another QB right now.  Ward knows the offense and the playing time for thorson would benefit him greatly.

Okay, but that quarterback wouldn't go all that deep into the playbook anyways. Why not give a youngster a wonderful opportunity to show off his talents to all 32 teams?

And there's nothing wrong with that......that playing time could be invaluable to him and the eagles without him getting time in a regular season game.  Plus they could put ward in for the 4th Quarter or sh--, give Braxton Miller some pratice reps too.

Until they determine how bad or mild Kessler's concussion is, there is no reason to sign a QB.  There are 2 preseason games left, thorson and ward can handle them.  The receivers will be evaluated in practice and how they play the game, even if the QB is inaccurate.

There's other quarterbacks out there waiting to get their opportunity to audition for 31 other teams. I can't agree with that at all.

Sorry Dougy P but we have to sign someone now. Thorson played better but that's not hard and he's not not good enough. If we want to fairly evaluate the receivers we have then we need to give them a chance. Plus if Thorson goes down next week do we put Wentz in? I think not. Numbers wise over anything else we have to.

We should of signed someone before this even happened.

I am happy Eagles won Superbowl...bought Superbowl gear and such

during the Superbowl season, bought my wife a Wentz jersey

Foles won Eagles the Superbowl...that should mean something...

Wentz goes down again...Foles leads Eagles not just to playoffs...but another playoff win...

If Foles is not Eagles qb going forward...Howie deserves the same fate as Chip Kelly

It's only going happen if Wentz ends up being a bust. Doug Pederson will be gone as well.

No I wouldn't. I know a lot probably would but I wouldn't. Wentz has the potential to be a long term franchise QB who's in the top 5 in the NFL. I don't believe long term, consistently, that Foles can. And none of the QBs entering the league in the next couple of years would entice me.

I know, because you are a Wentz fan. Lol
