    Rolling R-word's (Trademark Pending) updates..

They should have taken Tennesee's offer last year for Haynesworth (was it a 3rd?), but Shanahan was too smart for that!! You may be right, but I suspect that McNabb won't return much. Every GM in the NFL knows that (1) he won't start next year for Washington and (2) he's paid too much to be a backup. Meaning, his release is an eventuality if he isn't traded. Most teams would probably just wait for that. I suspect McNabb's trade value to be a low pick from a team that just wants first dibs on him.

Actually, given his history in Philadelphia, I do buy it. Donovan McNabb is a company man. I don't think he wants to go anywhere. They may shop him, but they're not going to get what they want (much like the Haynesworth situation). Once they figure that out, keeping him becomes much more attractive. Even with his play this year, McNabb is still a better solution at QB than Grossman. Plus, McNabb would only improve with more time in the system and more chemistry with the receivers. He's not the long term answer, I think even he knows that. They basically only need a QB to be the caretaker of the position until a rookie is ready to step in - which could be a year, it could be 3 years. So, McNabb is guaranteed to be the starter for now, when the rookie is ready to play, he'll step in.

I have a bold Redskins prediction -- Shanahan will meet with McNabb in the offseason and he will go into next year as the starter. Grossman won't be resigned. They'll pick a QB high in the draft (Locker at #10 was rumored by PFT I think), McNabb will be expected to groom him. I know, I hear about how the offense ran much better with Grossman, blah, blah, blah. Can you completely excuse the 8 turnovers in 4 games? Their QB ratings were comparable (Grossman was ~5 points better), but McNabb turns over the ball much less. What do you all think, is this a crazy thought?

Couldn't have said it better. I wonder if McNabb is already looking around at real estate up in the greater twin cities area.

Considering the Skins probably are rebuilding, I'd keep the pick.

I'm sofa king pumped for this game. It's gonna be a hard hitting game, both teams will be fired up. I'm thinking low scoring game. Something like 14-10, Eagles.

Ravens WRs > Redskins WRs Ravens RBs > Redskins RBs Ravens O-Line > Redskins O-line

Same hip that put him on IR last year?

I thought the Redskins running game looked very good, but I thought the passing game (from the starters anyways) looked just OK. McNabb had a couple of really nice passes, but also had a good share of worm burners. Bills starting DEs also seem to get pressure on him _a lot_. I don't know that I'd read much into pre-season results, but they certainly look much better than last year. If I were a Redskins fan, I'd want to see that line perform a bit better...

Exactly. Are your receivers so bad that you are lining up a TE at WR? I seriously doubt Cooley will have the same level of productivity being split out at WR. First, it's not a position he played before, second he's not facing coverage from a LB anymore.

No, clearly 16-0. Trent Williams wins offensive ROY. Perry Riley defensive ROY. Clinton Portis wins MVP.

Yes, seconded. I actually think TATE tends to be more negative these days.

Does Albert Haynesworth really have any leverage in this situation? He's under a contract he signed last year. The Redskins can and probably will fine him for every day he misses. He can moan and groan about not wanting to play in the 3-4, but really there's nothing he can do about it. I also don't think a trade is gonna happen. Teams were wondering about his attitude when he was a free agent last year, and he hasn't done anything to change that perception. He also has that massive contract, and any new team would need to honor that contract. Not to mention -- there's still the question of whether or not he's in shape.
