Are you rooting for Andy Reid now?

Exactly. Without AR, not only do we fail to have all those years of sustained success while he was here, we also don't have the foundation for the club that won the SB.

No one should have to endure the loss of a child for ANY reason. Garrett's death really did seal the final nail in the coffin for Reid's tenure in Philly - no doubt it was time for all involved to move on from each other after that tragic event.

I'm not only rooting for Andy, I'm of the opinion that this is the year he finally wins the big game. AR had some good QB's in his days here, McNabb, Vick, Garcia, and in KC with Smith, but he never had a championship QB. Mahomes is a QB that can win the big game, and I do believe he will put AR over the hump.

Strange. That hire is getting off to a good start.
  5. Good point. And I read also that MLB authorized him to be signed to a major league contract as an incentive to choose baseball.
  6. Major head coaching and DC upgrade for Denver. A bad, bad week for the Bears. Kubiak hire as OC. Let's see if the Broncos make a play for Foles. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/01/09/broncos-hire-vic-fangio-as-head-coach/
  7. "may" vs. guaranteed to make big money
  8. True - for free agents, not draftees. Not nearly the $$ that a #1 overall pick in the NFL would receive. And baseball can not offer him the stage that being a #1 overall pick would.
  9. Do you honestly believe that the #1 overall pick would decide to play baseball??????????????
  10. I've gone on record as saying that this is a bad hire by the Cards (as I also did after they hired Steve Wilks after serving one year as Carolina's DC), but damn it, why does race need to be inserted into everything these days. It's football damnit! http://theundefeated.com/features/all-the-reasons-the-cardinals-decision-to-hire-kliff-kingsbury-is-troubling/
  11. Last I checked, a team must play defense in addition to offense. And for the record, Texas Tech LOST that game.
  12. Exactly. And leaving all of that aside, does anyone honestly believe that veteran pro football players will take this guy seriously?

Broncos hire Vic Fangio as HC

He had a mini stroke while coaching the Texans. The HC job puts a whole level of stress on a coach that does not exist for the OC position.
  14. Guy had a losing record in college with Patrick Mahomes as his QB. I don't like the hire.

Where does Nick Foles wind up next season?

They would love to. He did well with Shurmur as his OC when Chip Kelly was here. I would think the Eagles would do everything they could to block that.

You did not answer the question.

    Rules question

Who can forget last year's game against the Giants when Jeffrey caught the ball and dodged 2 defenders to get out of bounds with one second left. Suppose instead he was a couple of yards further from the sideline. Why couldn't he choose to throw the ball out of bounds to stop the clock. Is that a delay of game? Otherwise, if it's not 4th down, suppose he feigns a fumble out of bounds?

    Rules question

We know that it's probably not allowed, but why not? Under what rule?

    Rules question

I think the original response needs to be credited with the rule he posted with regard to a forward pass out of bounds. In that case, you might have multiple penalties. Here's some language from the NFL Rule Book that infers this would be a delay of game: (Rule 4-6-5): OTHER DELAY OF GAME FOULS Article 5 Other examples of action or inaction that are to be construed as delay of the game include, but are not limited to, the following: (a) a player unnecessarily remains on a dead ball or on a runner who has been downed; (b) the snapper repeatedly snaps the ball after the neutral zone is established and before the Referee can assume his position (see 7-6-3-c); (c) undue delay by either team in assembling after a timeout; (d) a defensive player aligned in a stationary position within one yard of the line of scrimmage makes quick and abrupt actions that are not a part of normal defensive player movement and are an obvious attempt to cause an offensive player(s) to foul (false start). (The Referee shall blow his whistle immediately.); (e) spiking or throwing the ball in the field of play after a down has ended, except after a score; This language comes after explaining how failure to snap the ball on time is a delay of game. The laundry list of other types of delay of game fouls, followed by the language "include, but are not limited to" seems to infer that there could be other situations where the player is guilty of a delay of game, even if it isn't explicitly listed in the rule. It would seem logical that if a player is throwing the ball out of bounds for the purpose of stopping the clock, that would be a delay of game - no?

Interesting, and thanks for the link. Check this out and see if you still think it's a batted ball. https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2018-nfl-rulebook/#article-1.-illegal-bat
