Great Moments in Eagles Road Trip History

Recommended Posts

My first Eagles road game was in 2001. My first one outside of the Meadowlands was 2003, so I'm sure some of you have better memories than I do. Interested in hearing everyone's stories.

1. Miami 2003 - MNF - The Eagles are beating the Dolphins in the solidly in the second half. There are easily over 30,000 Eagles fans at the game. The Dolphins P.A. system tries to rally the Dolphins offense by playing "Gonna Fly Now", The Rocky Theme. All the Eagles fans stand up and go crazy for the whole song, and continue standing and going crazy and make it hard for the Miami offense to hear the snap count. Classic. About 25 minutes later in the same situation, Eye of the Tiger begins playing and the Eagles fans go crazy again, and the song is shut off abruptly after about 10 seconds.

2. Dallas 2004 - MNF - 20,000-30,000 Eagles fans at the game. Most of the upper deck end zones were Midnight Green. The chant of "Who's House - Our House" was rampant the entire night as well as Eagles chants and Dallas Sucks chants as the Eagles laid 49 points on the Cowgirls. In the bathroom at halftime, there was 1 Cowgirl fan and 30 Eagles fans. The Cowgirl fan ran the gauntlet through A-HOLE chants and "Who's House? - Our House!" chants.

3. Tampa 2006 - The dance floor at The Green Iguana in Ybor City packed with men and women with Eagles gear on.

4. Dallas 2004 - The day before the MNF Eagles-Cowgirls game - Hooter's in downtown Dallas during the Sunday NFL games, the "World's Largest Hooter's" Jammed to the rafters with Eagles fans. Anytime someone walked in with a Cowgirls shirt or hat he was serenaded with A-HOLE and Dallas Sucks chants. Eagles chants and Fly Eagles Fly were sung often also. This one group of guys had a football and about every half hour someone would roll the ball into a corner and yell "FUMBLE" and 2 or 3 guys would dive after it on the floor. We asked our waitress if it was busy like this every Sunday and she shook her head no with a horrified look.

5. New York Giants 2003 - All the cocky Giants fans walking out of the stadium with the tails between their legs, looking like they were going to cry after Westbrook took the punt back for the touchdown that saved our season.

6. Miami 2003 - Tailgate Russ's 1000 person tailgate party - It was at a racetrack within walking distance of Dolphins stadium. There were about 2000 there when all was said and done. A great time. Favorite memory from that was when about 2 1/2 hours into it, a guy with a 1970's porno mustache and a blue Michael Irvin jersey walked into that party and the sea of Midnight Green. You can imagine the chants that guy heard.

I'm sure lots of you have even better stories. Interested in hearing them.

Hope we have tons more stories in 2007. Starting in Green Bay and ending in Glendale, Arizona.

Great thread Jessie !

I've only been on 2 Eagles roadtrips but both were great and unforgettable.

1. Denver 2005 Downtown Denver completly midnight green during the whole weekend. There was this bar called "public house" , you'd go there at any time of the day during the weekend, it was packed with Eagles fans. I remember also on saturday the day before the game, we went for a tour of Coors Field, home of the Rockies. Our group was only Eagles fans. So we get near the Rockies locker room and next thing I know, a Birds fan is under a beer tap drinking like an idiot ! You had the tour guide just so discouraged and saying how she hated Philly fans. I remember I was laughing my a** off. Then on gameday, Mongo had organised this huge tailgate party. It was maybe 8:00 oclock, you had hundreds of Eagles fans but still not a single Broncos fan yet. That's when I realised that Eagles fans were the best. Then we played a little 'ball game in the lot. Eagles fans vs Broncos fans. Scored a touchdown & did some sit-ups in the endzone (T.O was still respected). Those were pretty much the best moments of the trip because Denver then proceeded to kick Philly's a** 49-21 and the rain started pourring.

2. San Francisco 2006 Wherever you'd go, you'd see groups of Eagles Fans. Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Napa Valley, it didn't matter. Then on gameday, thounsands of Eagles fans at the 'Stick. I remember 2 or 3 sections in the Upper Endzone that were completely midnight green !. Numerous fights broke up in the stands and the 49ers just couldn't keep up with the Eagles on the field. Final Score: 38-24 I believe...Then on our way back to downtown, we took the bus, once again, packed with Eagles fans. I don't think I've ever heard so many E-A-G-L-E-S chants during a single weekend. It was simply crazy ! Eagle_smiley.jpg

Hey! I was there at the San Fran Game in 2006 as well!!! We were down in the end zone by the big screen! We had a blast. I met some fellow EMBers at that game. But, it was crazy all of the Eagles fans that were there. My dad flew in from Philly to Vegas and then the next day we flew to San Fran and we couldn't believe how many people were wearing Eagles stuff! It felt like the Eagles were a home team at the game. And we had a few fights break out near us too! My son still talks about that game and how much fun it was!

Yep, by far the best road game I have ever been to. I sat in the lower level endzone. The end where Freddie Mitchell caught McNabb's pass on the longest play ever. I swear it fealt like I was in Philly. We were loud and proud. I remember when the game ended I was standing in the tunnel high fiving Eagles fans saying "thanks for coming to the Linc". I also heard one Dallas fan say outside in the parking lots say he never seen anything like that. He has been a 20 year season ticket holder. Man if I could relive that weekend for the rest of my life I would die happier than a pig in ****. Great time.

Who's House? - Our House!"

St. Louis for the NFC Championship Game! Would have been the best weekend of my life had the outcome been a lttile different (if only N.D. Kalu's fingers were one inch longer, that punt would have been blocked). I've never seen a city succumb to outsiders like that wekend in "the Louis"!

This year in Green Bay was a great time also. "The Bar" on Holmgren way was full of Eagles fans the night before the game. The "Fuzzy Thurston" tailgate party was about 80% Eagles fans. We kept requesting Eagles songs. Rocky, Lito Shuffle, etc. It was out of control. The Packer fans didn't know what to think.

That Dallas weekend in 2004 was incredible. I wish I could re-live that one as well.

It wasn't ND Kalu's fault, it was McNabb's. If Koy Detmer plays that game, we go to the Super Bowl. McNabb sucks! If Freddie Mitchell plays with a good QB, the guy is half way to a HOF career by now. Instead, McNabb ruins him, and the poor guy can't even stay in the league.

Defintiely KC game where we came back froma 24-3 deficit and WON!. KC fans were all smug and combative when they were up and then when the started to lose they shut up. Pathetic. My bro's almost got beat up on during the first half. heard form the police they were well over 100 arrests and most of those were KC fans.

The Bears playoff game in January '02. We took over the stadium late in the 4th quarter.

My fondest memory was jawing with this Bears' fan when he tossed his 3/4 full cup of beer at me. I ducked and it hit this guy right in front of me, who was wearing a nice wool coat. He got drenched. Ha!

I was at both of these tailgates (along with mongo's tailgate, the public house in Denver, lower end zone section in San Fran). What you said pretty much summed it up perfectly. They were by far my 2 favorite road trips.

Plus JGIV learned that I am able to drink mass quantities of beer yet remain realitivly sober.

And chillin' with WCO is always a plus, which I got to do at both games

My best and worst road game experiences happened within a month of each other during the 1991 season. In September I saw the Eagles deat Dallas in the most dominating defensive performance I have seen from any Eagles team in the almost 40 years I have been a fan. A month later in Tampa, I saw one of the most frustrating losses ever (Brad Goebel started at QB) when Chris Chandler came off the bench to lead the Bucs to 2 TDs in the final 5 minutes of the game.

San Francisco 2008 - Great trip:

The Thursday before the game hundreds of Philly fans were at Knuckles Sports bar for Game 1 of the NLCS vs. the Dodgers. We completely took over the place. We were in San Francisco and it was like being at McFadden's for the game. The place erupted when Utley and Burrell hit the tying and winning HR's and when Lidge closed out the win in the 9th.

Everywhere you went all weekend you saw Eagle fans everywhere. Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Embarcadero, you name it. The locals were dumbfounded. There were tons of Eagle fans at the game. Their lame fans were dumbfounded. They looked scared in the rest room with Eagle fans outnumbering them. Those of us on the Green Legion trip all walked in together, stopping multiple times along the way to do Eagle chants. Their "fans" were flipping us off. Their "fans" also all left the stadium when the Eagles took a 1 point lead with about 7:30 to go. Leaving nothing but 15,000-20,000 Eagle fans left in Candlestick. We all went absolutely nuts when Juqua Parker picked off a pass and returned it for a TD to seal the win.
