Waiting...

Last year for the draft in New York...

Recommended Posts

The NFL will explore taking the draft outside of New York after their contract runs out with Radio City Music Hall this year.

They could stay in New York at Radio City, although a return to Madison Square Garden seems unlikely. No candidates have been mentioned for the possible move.

Where would be a nice place in philly for it? Wacovia center?

What - the NFL Draft being held in L.A. when L.A. doesn't have an NFL team?

That would be interesting.

The NFL would love to have a team in LA, so having the Draft there wouldnt be such a bad idea.

moving it out of New York would be a bad idea. I think it belongs there and moving it somewhere else would be a mistake. and as much as I would like it to be in phill yi know it would never happen.

I personally don't have a problem with moving it around. Think it would be good for fans that don't have the opportunity to travel to NYC.

I agree. There's no real reason to have it in New York every year. Moving it around actually would make it an even bigger media event.

I don't see it leaving NY. Unless there's some miracle that occurs that removes the bad blood between the NFL and MSG, it's not gonna happen.

There's plenty of venues to hold it in in NY. I liked it at Radio City, but, it was great when they held it at the Jacob Javits Center.

Moving it to the west coast is pretty much out of the question. The viewership for the draft is substantial and they will not want it starting at 3:00 or 4:00 pm EST.

The cost of hosting it in NYC must be astronomical. Of course, multi-billion dollar industry can afford it!!!!

I preface this by saying I would not move it from NYC, but if I were, Vegas would be the place!!! I understand the NFL would not want to be associated with gambling and the casino industry, but Vegas is ideal (my first comment aside). To a far far lesser extent, the Borgata in AC.

WTF? Why?

Not exactly sure why, but only the first 2 rounds are on saturday and the first round is 10 minutes between picks instead of 15 minutes.

This way, the people on the left coast aren't awaking to the draft at 9:00 am. I would assume a 3:00 EST / 12:00 PST would increase viewership.
