Top 5 Lists: Defense

Recommended Posts

The one player i see consistently underrated is London Fletcher. Hes easily in the top 2 as far as linebackers go in the division. And i think you guys are overrating Cornelius Griffin. He was a monster in 2004 but age has slowed him down some.

Fletcher is not better than Ware or Pierce. I like Gaither's upside alot more at this point, but I could call Fletcher #3.

Fletcher and Pierce are neck and neck. They're the top best ILB's in the East.

Ware is a very good player, but he still is an outside LB in a 3-4. Osi, Tuck, and Cole would also be LB's in that scheme, and most likely would dominate.

I love Pierce and think he's one of the best defensive leaders in the game.

i don't think they'd dominate like ware, and they'd also have some pass coverage responsiblites. It's harder to dominate as an OLB then a DE.

No, a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 DE have VERY similar responsibilities.

Yeah but its alot easier for the 3-4 OLB because the DE's are usually bigger guys filling up space on the 3-4 defense for the linebackers to come around on.

Also DE's in the 4-3 arent usually asked to play coverage as OLB's are in a 3-4. 3-4 OLB's are much more athletic, because they can play both DE and OLB.

Osi would Tuck and Cole wouldn't. Tuck and Cole are finesse move pass rushers along with considerable strength. Osi is a pure athlete and can run down anybody on the field. Ware is still the best athlete out of all of them however.

I agree with that I just don't consider 3-4 OLBs linebackers as much more as they are pass rushers in a 2 point stance.

Did you seriously just say Tuck was finesse?

finesse move not soft. He's extremely physical obviously. In other words. NOT FAST.

you are in trouble now! you just f'd up and said a member of the Giants wasn't able to dominate at something. get ready for the onslaught!

DT:

No one really stand out. Ratliff, Patterson, Bunkley, Robbins, Coefield, T.Johnson, Griffin...Can't really get a top5 out of it.

DE:

1. Trent Cole

2. Justin Tuck

3. Osi Umenyiora

4. Chris Canty

5. Andre Carter

LB:

1. Demarcus Ware

2. Antonio Pierce

3. London Fletcher

4. M.Washington

5. Gaither

S:

1. Brian Dawkins

2. Ken Hamlin

3. LaRon Landry

4. Quintin Mikell

5. Roy Williams

CB:

1. Asante Samuel

2. Terrance Newman

3. Lito Sheppard

4. Carlos Rogers

5. Sheldon Brown/Anthony Henry/Shawn Springs

This is pretty accurate in my opinion. I think Ross is most likely going to be in the top 5 for CBs in the east maybe top 3 if he continues getting better. Landry is going to soar to the 1 spot at safety in no time. A healthy dawkins can keep the spot this year.

Same logic can be applied to you wanting Samuel there...what's the difference?

Not bad overall. I'd put Fletcher up at #3. Dawkins to #3 and Hamlin as #2 with Landry at #1.

Webster still needs to prove things this year, but I would put Sam Madison at #4. Shawn Springs, when healthy, is still a very good player as well.

Sheldon Brown is and always has been overrated by PHI fans.

lol at Giants fans who don't understand that Osi isn't even the best DE on their own team, much less the division...
