OFFICIAL: Jason Taylor TRADED to WSH for 2009 2nd + 2010 6th

Recommended Posts

The funny thing is, if it were the Eagles who traded this same package for Taylor, every single poster here would find a positive way to spin it and like the trade.

and anyone who ripped the trade would get buried.

Deny it all you want, but I am 100% sure this would happen if the Eagles made this deal.

A Redskins fan would come and laugh at us for making the deal and everyone would be like "Yea, now we got the best DE tandem in the NFL, watch out Jason Collins, it's going to be a long year!" etc etc.

I would still say it was a boneheaded move if the Eagles gave up a second and a sixth round draft pick for a nearly 34 year old player. It's not that they Redskins didn't do the right thing in getting Jason Taylor, but they gave up too much for him.

You are right. I know i would rip the Eagles. No one ever wants to see a division rival add a potential pro bowler.

Heres your spin.....

We need another edge rusher to compliment Coles

Becuase thomas is decent back-up and Clemons is a LB convert to DE

from the raiders we know how that turns out.

I rip the eagles for not even trying to block the trade by offering like 2 4ths or something

2 4ths would block a 2nd and a 6th? No f'ing way.

F that, why would I want the eagles to overpay even more then the redskins to 'block' a trade of a 34 year old player

Adding anytype of pro bowler to the NFC eASt thats not on the Iggles

is Detrimental regardless of age i believe straham dismissed that theory last year

Because if the Eagles had traded for that "34 year old player" people here would act like we just won the super bowl....the point that another team got him we're all downplaying it. He's a very good DE, possibly still a great DE. We don't have a need for DEs that's the only reason I don't want him..but then again you can never have too many good football players. And since we've been trading picks the last few years, why not trade a pick for a proven player?

I don't want Taylor but the biggest thing that's annoying the sh** out of me is that it seems like the trolls of the NFC east are constantly trying to make themselves better while we're not. It just seems like the Eagles have stopped trying

No team in the NFC East spent more in free agency then the Eagles did this year... just sayin.

Que?

You wouldn't happen to be a Jets fan and be talking about Laveranues Coles, the wide receiver, would you?

I'm pretty certain there's no "Coles" guy on our team..

...the guy is top 10 in the league (12.5 sacks, most tackles by a DE in the NFC last year) and you can't spell his name?? Come on..

We have V.Abiamiri who our highly respected defensive coordinator is looking forward to getting playing time and claims he has an outrageous amount of potential, and Parker (formerly Thomas) who started there last year...where are you getting this that we need another pass rusher? Clemons is a pass-rushing specialist too.

Oh you mean the scrubs and Samuel? Yeah what an offseason it's been

The only reason we've "spent a lot" is because we gave Samuel like 15 billion dollars

If you want to play the spelling game, then it is Clemons, not Clemmons.

Anyway, the same highly respected d coordinator was in love with Matt McCoy too. Now he can barely hang on to an NFL roster.

Asante Samuel a top 5 corner in the league? Clemmons in the prime of his career as a situational pass rusher for dirt money? Actual DT depth (not RFAs)? A kick returner?

Are you serious right now? Trading a second round pick for a 32 year old defensive end who stated he only wants to play one more year is bull****. Chargers got Chris Chambers mid season for a second rounder and greatly improved their passing offense and hes only 28. Go back to playing madden, dope.

Whoa whoa, easy there Andy, we're talking about free agents, not the draft. The only two significant players we got in FA are Samuel and Clemmons and we really don't know how either one will play out in our system...I'm guessing Samuel will fit in any system because he's just a great football player. Clemmons looks like he could be special but we won't know till at least midseason

First of all I mentioned Thomas ...Parker whatever he is not starting quality in the NFC east.

Abiamiri ....again unproven thats like saying jackson is the best KR/Pr in the East and now

the eagles have the best ST

Dont make assumptions.

I'm assuming you're talking about Jason Campbell and not the NBA scrub.

You mean like you assumed that the rest of the teams in the division upgraded their defensive lines, so as a result the Giants will get "poll smoked" (really curious about that term...wondering if your orientation is leaking through)?

Really......

Clemmons....is being converted into a DE and has to learn the most complicated Defense in the league along with a new position.

He is also playing in the best Division in Football expect his impact to be minute.

A kick returner.... That is yet to sign and trust me eagles nation was this excited about another guy who was suppose

to revolutionize our kick game....Couple names bethal johnson , jermey bloom common really.

Asante Samuel played in a different System OURS is hard to adapt to and when your getting coverage INT's your stats look massive

the reason he has sick stats is becuase he played on a sick team! I believe another guy had crazy stats came into our division and is now a normal starter .....PORTIS

DT...ROOKIE really!

But I dont get it, It's not like this all of a sudden puts the Redskins in superbowl contention. The Eagles offseason moves dont either. The Marlins traded Beckett for Boston's Hanlee Ramirez who is now the best player in baseball. What I'm getting at is that Beckett isnt the best pitcher but he was absolutely necessary for Boston to win two world series. If Jason Taylor isnt a major factor for the Redskins winning a superbowl it will look extremely boneheaded for them trading their second round pick and future prospect.

Your letting the fire and brimstone fall from the sky cause the Eagles havent added anyone in the last month. Maybe the Eagles feel comfortable with the younger guys and dont want to ruin chemistry. You and I both dont know but dont get your panties twisted over a season that hasnt even started.

THAT'S THE PROBLEM! An NFL team that wants to win the SuperBowl should never feel "COMFORTABLE" with what they have they should be trying to improve 24/7, that's how you win championships!!!

Question for you, A/B Answer:

Which 2008 Redskins team is better?

A) Redskins team with their full picks for 2009

B) Redskins team with Jason Taylor and less picks in 2009

I'll take B
