How do they have any money after the 36 million was taken from them...

Have you read anything on this at all? It was 36 million spread over two years, split anyway they like. Even if they go w/ 50% this year thats 18 million. They cut players saving another 5 million, so that brings it down to 13 million. They started w/ nearly 40 million so take away 13 million and they had 27 million salary cap 2012.

They restructured Will Montgomery today to save $2 million. They have to take at least a 50% cap hit this year so its at least $18 million of dead cap this year.

According to PFT the skins are prepping a lawsuit against the NFL. They have a very good case.

Which is what? They abused the uncapped year after being warned not to.

I can see this ending up like the time Danny Boy wanted to chop down some trees to get a better view of the Potomac River.

 Watching the Skins and Cowboys throw mini-fits, knowing deep down there is absolutely nothing they can do about, is priceless.

Any action they take will likely be useless.

Exactly. In some wild universe where they were stupid enough to actually sue, they'd be attempting to disband the league and have is prosecuted as a monopoly...a punishment they would suffer along with the league and one that would cost them far more in the long run. There's absolutely nothing they can do.

Watching them flail and throw meaningless tantrums has truly been the highlight of the off-season.

Shanahan said today that they found out about their cap penalty "an hour before free agency". Theres not much more the NFL could have done to handle this situation any worse.

The skins have to be worried about their safety and right tackle positions so far. Unless Brown finally gets over his hip injury, he will be one of the worst starting tackles in the league again.

At safety the current starters are DeJon Gomes and Brandon Meriweather. Thats a far cry from Sean Taylor and LaRon Landry. I like Gomes but i dont know if he is a starting caliber player and Meriweather is a pure box guy.

They didn't follow the mandate to NOT dump high salaried players to have money for this season? So no, they have no case.

Hell Snyder pisses that much money away every off season on signing over the hill players. The rub for Snyder & Jones is that the money is being split among the other 30 teams.

Actually if they bring an anti-trust lawsuit against the NFL, they will likely win. Theres more than enough evidence to prove collusion and the skins are being punished for not following suit. Like it or not, the skins broke no rules. They exposed a loophole and the league is acting like the skins and the cowboys were the only two teams that did it. Its no coincidence that the richest 2 teams in the league were the ones docked cap space to the benefit of the other 30 teams and i think its no coincidence that the owner of the Giants was the one behind it.

Maybe that's why they imposed the fine on the TWO teams that performed the violation? Do you think? Anti-trust lawsuit basically going to damage the league, so it will be known the Cowboys and Redskins are responsible for the demise of the league. Jerry definitely looks like the kid who was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and Danny is still reeling from the lawsuit against the newspaper, now he's got to pay his lawyers to fight the league.

Actually, not happy as an Eagles fan, this just gives you guys more ammunition if the Eagles win the division this coming season, you will say the league tainted the outcome for the division.

The Skins and Cowboys didn't "expose a loophole", they just failed to follow orders and now have tasted the wrath of their master. I heard Mara was lighting cigars with million dollar cap charges at the owners meetings, FTR.

And they can't sue for blatantly obvious reasons. They are Fed.

Also, the Skins aren't even close to being among the leagues "richest teams". They are valuable, but if Jerry Jones woke up with Danny Snyder's money, he'd kill himself. If Paul Allen woke up with Jerry Jones' and Dany Snyder's combined wealth one morning, he'd re-enact Falling Down before offing himself.
