Concerning DirecTV

Frankly, I don't care all that much what you think it proves or doesn't prove. But it proves that I got a large credit on my bill just before the NFL season started.

Obviously you cared enough to respond.

Obviously you cared enough to respond.

And obviously you've been proven wrong. Though I'm sure you'll keep telling yourself that you were right.

I'll always take free public pwnage when it's offered up on a silver platter.

The best they offered was discounted to $100.

I'm giving it a few more months and then cancelling period.

I'd accept $100 off this season, since it's only $200. As long as they include the To Go package for free with it. My brother uses it with his PS3 to watch the Raiders.

I could pay it, but the way I see it it's not worth it. I'll see the Eagles one way or another without paying a dime. It's nice to not have to leave the house, but it's not the worst thing.

That $100 can get the rest of the TVs in my house "smart" and take another step closer to be provider free.

I refuse to pay them any extra anymore.

I'm with you there, but it is nice to have all of the games at the touch of the remote. It's not an expense I can't afford but it's become an expense that I don't need/use.

Exactly. We have plenty of national games. Then there will be a game or two that will just be on. I'll meet the other fans out for a couple. The others will be with Merrill and a possible online feed.

Yeah, and for the games I can't catch (if there are any), I can go to TYT within a few hours of it ending and get it or wait till midnight and watch it on NFL.COM.

Hey, anyone have NFL Ticket Max? I don't wanna make a commitment to Directv just to get NFL Ticket; anyone want to share their online code so I can watch the Eagles only on my computer. I'll pay half for the NFL ticket bill through Paypal or send me your offer.

Just a heads up about the auto-renewal for the ticket. If you don't call and let them know you want the basic ticket, they will auto-renew you with ticket max which costs a total of 299.99, not the tv advertised price of 199.00.

Thanks for the heads up! The difference between Max and Basic for me is the Red Zone channel, which I really enjoy. Not worth an extra 100 bucks, though. I don't care about the replay features because you can get a better deal streaming past games directly from NFL.com, which includes the coaches film. From NFL.com, it costs either 39 or 69 dollars, depending on if you want to include your tablet and smartphone.

For those that don't know, the rundown on Sunday Ticket Max vs Basic is the following:

Basic - All games Live in HD, Mix Channel of up to 8 games simultaneously, Player Tracker of up to 18 players (for you fantasy geeks), Real Time stats and scores (unnecessary if you have a smartphone, tablet, or computer), NFL Sunday Ticket on demand. (I honestly don't know what that is)

Max - All of the Basic plus - Every game Live on your tablet, smartphone, or computer, Red Zone Channel, Short Cuts (see every game in 30 minutes or less starting on Mondays)

The only thing on Max that is worth having is the Red Zone Channel, but 100 bucks is too much for it. All of the other services can be had on NFL.com for less money.

I will most likely call to disconnect service tomorrow due to the Viacom mess they've created.

If you read up on the details of the Viacom dispute, you would discover that it is Viacom that is getting greedy. I'm backing DirecTV in that fight. Screw Viacom. Their channels and programming are mostly for 12 year-olds anyway. The only show I would miss is The Daily Show and Colbert, but I usually stream those, (or clips from them). Rarely do I watch either on my tv.

Viacom is committing suicide and they'll do the same thing to Dish and the cable companies when those contracts run out.

DirecTV isn't the bad guy here, it's Viacom.

Oh btw, whoever is saying DTV is getting ballsy or don't give discounts, I just off the phone with them to make a program package change and we got on the ST issue. I was actually content on paying the $199 after getting deep discounts or free for the past 8 years or so but decided to ask if they could discount it anyway.

Got transferred to the ST specialist and they gave it to me for $100 ($19.99 per month for 5) and they threw in the new super max or whatever it's called to be able to watch it on CP or mobile for free. All this with just a simple question about any discounts and didn't have to threaten to cancel.

Don't worry, it's only a matter of time before some moron will respond to your post claiming that "it proves nothing."

Had DirecTV for years. Got tired of the cost and the ugly dish in my yard. Now I watch any game I want online on 1 of those sites the FBI shuts down from time 2 time until they move & open w/ new addy.

I have comcast and live near DC so I don't see my team on tv that much so I have to resort to the bar(which usually ends up being a skins or ravens game as well) so it's those online sites I have to use to see an Eagles game.

From a DTV thread in WU:

I called and they gave me a $20 per month billing credit for 12 months ($240 total) plus some channels for free for 3 months. I didn't mention the Sunday Ticket in this call, I'll call as soon as the first bill shows it being charged to me to 'cancel' it and see if they'll give it to me for free.

If not, I'll consider the $240 as getting ST for free since it's only $199 and my billing credit is $240. If I can get an additional $200 out of them then that'll be icing on the cake.
