Do the eagles have the best tight end combo in football

Recommended Posts

I never thought of that, but a valid point could be made for sure.  Celek is more complete TE who can block well, but Ertz can run and catch with some of the best TEs currently going and he's still young.  TE can't be an easy position; you have to block like and NFL guard, and catch like an NFL WR as a big man.

yeah i'll go with Gronk and whoever, it could be bill belicheat and Gronk and it would still be better just because, Gronk.

Eagles TE's have combined for zero all-pro selections, zero pro-bowls, and have never led the league in any major statistic amongst TEs (receptions, yards, or TD's).

They are a strong unit, but they are not the best, not the second best, and not top 3.

Sorry buts it Patriots without question...

1.) Patriots

Then number 2 could be a few teams

Seattle with Graham and Wilson

Cowboys Witten and Escobar

Eagles with Ertz and Celek

Ravens with Gillmore and Pitta

other ones I agree but Escobar has done nothing in this league, and Witten is in the downside of his career IMO

Just throwing some more out there:

Jags with Mercedes Lewis and Julius Thomas
Titans with Walker and Fasano
Redskins with Reed and Vernon Davis
Packers with Rodgers and Cook
Cardinals with Fells and Gresham

Easy to say Patriots #1. Eagles are in Top 10.

No. They are a solid combo who should get a lot of opportunities this year but still have a lot to prove.

Ertz is like a poor man's Jimmy Graham and Celek is like a poor man's Jason Witten or Heath Miller.

I'm expecting maybe 1,300-1,500 yards and 12-15 TDs between the two of them.

Sucks that they actually have a really talented second guy now. Gronk + Bennett could be as good as or even better than Gronk + Hernandez.

The best? Maybe not... But certainly in the top 3 combinations I'd say?

I guess as well it depends what you are looking for from your TEs. If you want them to continue to the passing game and catch the ball then you really can't look past Gronk and Bennett. But how often is Gronk asked to block?

Celek is so disciplined and such a good blocker but he's also an underrated catcher of the ball and I'd like to see him involved in the passing game more.

Ertz... Well this is his break out year right?

Yeah, I'd take Dallas off the list, however I'd add the skins

the eagles aren't even close to #1

No.

We'll see where they rank after this year.  I wouldn't be surprised if Pederson runs the offense largely through the TEs something I expected Chip to do and was consistently surprised he never did.
