Anyone going to Dallas?

Recommended Posts

Heading out Saturday afternoon and will be there Sunday to cheer on the Birds!  Will be a great trip; field passes, in a box...nice to have connected friends.  Need some idea of a Saturday night spot! Food, drink, other Eagles fans??? Let me hear if anyone else will be there.

Can't go this year - my niece is going - her uncle is one of the team doctors for the Cowboys - last time we went together was December 25th, 2006 - she had a sweet pink Westbrook jersey and I got kicked off the field by security for standing in the endzone intimating an Eagles touchdown reception.  (Side note: Dallas fans nearby thought the security were a-holes and bought me a beer)  As they escorted me off she asked, "I don't have to leave the field, do I?"  She was 13 at the time.  She proceeded to walk to the Eagles sideline and get some great photos.  Terrell Owens dropped a sure long TD right in front of us.  Great times as we crushed them.

I live in Dallas, but unfortunately I'm in DC for work.  The best place to hangout would be going to the Uptown/West Village area.  There are tons of bars and restaurants up and down McKinney Avenue.  It's where most young adults hangout on the weekend.  Also Deep Ellum is a nice area to hangout, there a few places with live music there.

It really depends on where you are staying.  Both Uptown/West Village and Deep Ellum are basically connected to downtown Dallas. If you are staying in Arlington(where the stadium is located) there is not much to do out there.  Arlington is about a 20 minute drive from downtown without traffic.

I would have suggested to checkout the Texas State Fair, but you just missed that.

There's a lot to do in Dallas, it just depends on what you like to do. The city limits of Dallas go out quite a lot, so a lot of places are not very close to each other, but there is a lot to do here.

With it being close to Halloween I would imagine there are going to be events at bars and what not.

If your into museums there are a few I recommend, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a good one, the 6th Floor Museum, and the Dallas Museum of Arts is free but if they have a special exhibit there that particular part will have a fee.

For food there are some place you need to go. For some good BBQ I recommend going to Lockharts or Pecan Lodge (you have to get there early to get any food, they sell out very fast). If you want to head to a fancier place I like CBD Provisions, you can get a whole pig's head there (although you have to order it a day in advance). If you want some good burgers you can go to twisted root, or if you like some crazy burgers there's a place called rodeo goat.

You can always take a tour of the stadium, I know it's the cowboys but the stadium is pretty incredible and taking a tour of it is pretty neat.

Give me some ideas of what your into or what you would like to do and I am sure Dallas has something for you.

I had posted this in a different thread with someone asking whats good in the area, hope some of this helps. Like others have said, check our deep ellum, lower greenville, and uptown areas. Can't go wrong with any of them.

For BBQ:  Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum (just east of Downtown) is well known.  Be prepared to wait in line for a while.  If you're willing to drive a bit, check out Hutchins in McKinney (or Frisco).

I moved from PA to Austin, TX in May 2015...I'm heading to "jerry world" for the first time. I'm sure there will be fellow birds fans there. I'm going with a cowboys fan -_-

Haven't been there yet and am very envious of anyone that gets to go to cheer on the boards. Only stadium outside of philly I've been to was the Eagles Vikings playoff game the year we played the cards in nfccg. I gotta make the trip in the next couple years to Jeruh world.
