[News] No 'Off' Season For Eagles Coaching Staff

Recommended Posts

This is not all on Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas and the Eagles’ player personnel department. The coaching staff is very much involved in the team’s preparation for the April 27-29 NFL draft. Even though there are no games being played, the coaching staff is busy with the information-gathering part of the business in this first week of April ...

In this slow time, if you are a fan of Christian Mccaffrey google his family history. His grandfather was one of, if not the fastest human being in the late 50s early 60s. We all know about his father, but his mother was a soccer player at Stanford. Every aunt and uncle played some sport at the Div I level. He certainly got the genes.

Wrang...from the last article I hope Lattimore slips some let him fall to Philly at 14 I would gladly take him I think he can be a special CB in this league.....Honestly someone who is growing on me is Kevin King as well..... My mid round guy is Ahkello Witherspoon

And that means what? Is he going to be a star because his family is athletic? I guess we should have stuck with Casey Matthews some more right he would have been a star player cause his family had the pedigree everyone else lacked.

What position for King? I understand that most scouts see him as a safety at the next level. BG, I am not sure that if my job depended on the results of this years draft if I could take the chance on Lattimore with pick 14. Later yes, but he probably won't be there later. Whenever someone tells me that a player has plenty of upside, to me that means he isn't there yet but could be later. That doesn't equate to the 14th pick in the draft. That 14th pick is gold. Don't want to take the chance of ending up with Silver or Bronze with the 14th pick. I know you like him but I think he should have stayed in school for another year so everyone could have seen some more consistency. There are CB's out there this year that have three years starting experience to judge on.

Every player we draft we draft because they have upside none of them are perfect and not going to get better and if they have peaked already we shouldn't want them.....Lattimore to me can be special player that what you want in the first round I think he can come in day 1 be the starter.....Not worried about the 1 year of college exp. under his belt Wentz only had like 20 games under his belt.....As for King look at him at CB think he can play CB

Lattimore is the only CB I think is worth taking in the top half of the draft....I like King and he is growing on me still think there is way better value then him at 14 whether that be Foster/Howard/Thomas etc.

That really is the point, isn't it? Not to take need at 14 but the best player available. By the way, who are your best three picks at 14 that you believe we have a decent shot at.

Jon Allen Bama could also fall concerns with his shoulders not sure how the Eagles would utilize him with Beau/Jernigan and Cox already at DT but could be good value.....Cox/Jernigan move out to DE little lol would be an interesting DL RE Jernigan DT- Allen DT-Cox DE Graham.....Not sure if it would work but fun to think about

That we have a shot at at 14.....Foster/Reddick/Thomas/Barnett(think one will fall just not sure which lol)

I am leaning Thomas falling over Barnett

Okay, next question. Is there a player you would trade up for? You are Joe Douglas now. Is there a player in this draft you just have to have? LOL

"This is the time of the year when we have wall-to-wall meetings about the draft,” offensive coordinator Frank Reich said. "We’re detailing everything about every prospect out there. The draft is right around the corner, so it’s all hands on deck to get ready.”

Anyone else but me wonder how much time they have invested on the computer looking at draft prospects? LOL I realize that I am retired and have more time than most to look up players but I believe that most of you fans are looking up players as much as I am. One of these years I am going to keep track of the time spent. It probably equals the coaches.

The ESPN NFL draft analysts released a dueling two-round mock draft on Wednesday. Kiper has the Eagles taking Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley with the 14th overall pick, and Conley's collegiate teammate, Curtis Samuel, in Round 2. Samuel (5-foot-11, 196 pounds) did a little bit of everything during his three years with the Buckeyes. He rushed for close to 800 yards last year (7.9 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns and added 74 receptions for 865 yards with seven TDs.

Samuel is an interesting player might comapre nicely to Ty Montgomery of GB.....Don't think he can be a full time RB but would fit nicely in that receiving role

Eagles are having a private workout with Samuel on 4/11. LOL Looks like Sproles replacement in the second round.

I dont get the need Sproles replacement. Shouldnt the Eagles be focused on Ryan Matthews replacement. The starters replacement not the 3rd down specialist. 2nd round pick on a specialist bit high for me.

You make a very good point I think the guy that is going to carry the ball primarily is more important Samuel though could be viewed as a WR by the Eagles as well

I also like to go back to Smalls which one of the things that I remember Doug saying was he like his hands.....So that 3rd down change of pace RB could already be on roster...Also have Marshall WR/RB out of Oregon showed some flashes

Nah 3rd round CB's in this draft would be round 1ers in most others.can't see doing a CB in 1,but you know that by now.don't reach let them come to you, they all have enough talent to "git 'er done" as they say down here

LOL Freak. At least it would be in the second round. There are guys on here that want McCaffery in the first and he would be a part time player as well.
