med tech has come so far.Being 40 now is NOT as big a deal as it was 20 years ago. These guys can play alot longer due to med advances.even Favre was considering a come back lol

I would like to think that these QBs are smart or they wouldnt be where they are and so successful... with that being said, they surely must be thinking about quality of life after football

Teams that are bad and dont have a QB are only PART of the QB situation around the league.... Howie was REALLY smart to do what he did... Brady 18 years, Brees 17 yrs, Palmer 15 yrs, Eli 14 yrs, Roethlisberger 14 years, Rogers 13 years, Alex smith 13 years, Rivers 13 years... THAT is a lot of mileage on a bunch of guys

Glad it worked.VERY risky to move up for a QB unless you are totally on board and committed.Birds did a terrific job on that one

IMO Cutler for them.First he's a jerk(cleve needs one of those and they have an insane amout of cap space).2nd-used to being flushed out of the pocket 3) Still has a capable arm in the event they ever DO find a WR.ube a nice connect for their up and coming TE(maybe they only decent guy they have) since Cut was used to having a nice TE outlet

I dont think fans give Howie enough credit, he is like a Championship Chess player, and getting into elite status in my opinion... he is always learning and always looking to learn more and not afraid to listen, it would seem. How many GMs feel comfortable enough in their own skin to bring in such a talented guy like Joe Douglas? Then ask how many GMs would have been able to find a way to move up to get wentz the way he did... AND THEN RECOUP ALL THE COST ALMOST INSTANTLY!!!!

Mostly agree,he's a wizard.I suspect somehow we fix that drop to 99 in the 3rd,maybe even parlay that into a late 2nd,which would mean the player we got would be even more of a value

The Bridgewater incident was pure luck for the Eagles though. Not sure anyone can call Howie a genius for that deal.

I will he could have sent him packing for a 3rd but to get a 1st rd pick for an average QB was huge.

This might make you feel better about the trade back n round 3 to 99...

T. Jer, 3yr 4.382 mil, 2.126 mil guaranteed, 1.017 mil in 2017... Ben Log 1Yr 8 mil, 7.69 guaranteed

T Jer stats over 3 years, 43 games, 45 tackles, 46 assist, 35 QB Hits, 1 FR, 13 Sacks, 1 Int, 3 Pass D... Has yet to hit his prime

Ben Log over 4 years, 59 games, 120 tack, 43 ast, 5.5 sack, 1 pass D, 14 QB hits, 3 FF, 2 FR... age 27 playing in prime now

Only Browns team that was fun was 1980(sorry was already a birds fan). The 1980 Kardiac Kids with Sipe at the helm.On the reverse side,I had to suffer through the fallout from "the Drive" from Elway-UGH.I was a birds fan then, but still cause you live there you feel the heat

Sipe was an underrated QB. And I freaking hate Elway. He is SOOOO overrated! He stunk it up for 3 and a half quarters and then pulls it together for A (ONE) DRIVE and he is the hero. His defense is the hero for keeping them in the game while he threw pass after pass in the dirt. Elway didn't win a title UNTIL he started handing the ball off to TD. And that's pretty much all he did for those two years. Sorry. Clearly passionate about my distaste for all of the credit that Elway received as a player. I can make the same argument for Troy Aikman. He played behind the best O line by far and mostly handed the ball off. Can't be in the hall of fame doing that, in my opinion. Dan Marino, I am not a Dolphins' fan by the way, was the best pure QB in my lifetime. Brady is great dinking and dunking away. Marino was AWESOME on EVERY type of throw. And Steve Young was the best complete athlete at the QB position. His accuracy was unreal.

someone needs to take him to the batting cages and put a still bat in his hands and show him how to look the ball into the bat... bunting practice...watch him... his eyes stay focused at a point about 10 feet in front of the catch and his head does not move with the ball as it comes in

Again, I am looking forward to the draft getting here and getting over with. Get those players and let's go develop them. I'll let the coaches and scouts decide who to get. I don't know the best players out there. Heck, I love McCaffrey. But I like a whole lot of other guys too. No pressure whoever is picking. Just don't screw it up. Haha.

You see that is the thing.... it is far more convenient to call him lucky and in fact just a loser and an idiot for having invested so much cap space on QBs... he took all that heat from everyone... I CHOOSE to believe that it was not just a stupid person being lucky... A stupid person doesn't unload those ungodly contracts that chip signed and ove us up to the #2 pick and then immediately recover the draft pick costs with other moves... Something happens to QBs all the time.. maybe during the preseason, maybe during the season, I think he was just playing thodds of probability and putting Us in a position to cash in

Point is if Howie can get that pick into the top of round 3 or better yet bottom of 2,then the VALUE(not COST) for him would be greater no??

Don't confuse cost with value, they are different things

I really thought the price and value was very fair for Jernigan... no contract needed to be worked out, Rook Contract... then we can look back to how we all felt at the time, which was a sense that we would be much weaker along the D-line, no matter what, beacuse the resources were not there... that the only answer was to draft
