But back to the thread topic, @D'angelo is right. There were a few on here proclaiming Gregory as the steal of the draft.

Can't blame Dallas for trying though.  I wouldn't be mad at us for taking a kid like that who is super talented.  You hope that you can clean him up and get his head on straight.

The four guys drafted around him were some guys named Marcus Golden, Ty Sombrailo, Ali Marpet and Quinton Rollins.

Had he been clean, Gregory would have been the slam dunk 3rd pick in the draft.

I stand by my original assessment of it being a good pick. Obviously, it didn't work out.

Calling him a stupid idiot is a bit much.  There are millions of americans who suffers from drug addiction and maybe you just don't know how serious it could be.

Only thing you can do is hope for the best for him and pray that he can kick the addiction and restart his NFL career.

When an NFL player, with the ability/potential to earn tens of millions of dollars, opts to continue down a path of self-destruction and use substances which are banned by the NFL, it's completely fair to call him a stupid idiot. ESPECIALLY after a 7th failed drug test.

Being a drug addict and being a stupid idiot are not mutually exclusive, though. Someone can be both. At this point though, he doesn't need an NFL career. It pays too much money and that much money will just feed his addictions.

Even if was another drug I still don't feel bad for him. You know the consequences of taking drugs that the possibility of be coming addicted to it. Calling it a disease is dumb in my opinion it's not like you woke up one with an addiction to a drug you never took before.

The drug itself isn't the disease.

I know that I'm saying that addiction isn't a disease. You wouldn't become addicted if you did not take it in the first place.

He was one of several "1st round picks" they had that year.

Most ppl wouldn't get lung cancer if they never smoked cigarettes.  Same with cirrhosis and alcohol. Being obese and diabetes. And the list can go on and on. Just because something is self inflicted doesn't change that it is still in fact a disease.  Atleast IMO

He failed it for weed. Weed is not addicting. It's not like meth or heroin or cocaine in any way shape or form. He is an absolute idiot

I dont know where this thought started.

Weed is addictive. I have brother in law when he was young he was foing all sorts of stuff. Meth heroine and weed and he said the hardest for him to kick was the weed.

Weed effects brain chemistry just like other drugs and can be addictive.

Having said that weed isnt considered a deadly drug because its really tougj to od on.

But it is addictive.

Its more of addictive behavior  then it being addictive .  Something drug addicts and Alcoholics already possess

True most addicts possess addictive behaviors. Having said that one could say the same thing about pornography.

While in itself pornography dpesnt contain any addictive chemicals the way ones brain reacts to it and changes classifies it as addictive.

Weed. Can effect brain chemistry to the point where one becomes dependant or addicted to those changes.

But yes the behavior can be addictive

Not sure why Aldon Smith is on there. His problem is he is a raging alcoholic and he is crazy.

Rumor is right now is that there is more trouble on the way. News could break soon.

Supposedly dude has had a trainer with him 24/7, but he somehow went AWOL for a bit last week. Not good. I'm done. Just cut him. It's nice to try and help someone get the help they need, but when they've messed up this many times, it's time to cut ties. Tough call, but this is a football business, not a feel good story business. Get him help outside of the team without all of the football distraction.

Is it just that the 'trainer' didn't know where he was for a little while or is there something else to it?

On paper it was a steal, the kid has an elite 1st step, even though i’m Not sure he’s a scheme fit.

i like the kid, from what i’ve heard he’s a hard worker, good attitude and just all round nice guy. He has some extreme anxiety issues that in many states you can legally treat with medical MJ.....

that said...if he failed another test I can’t feel to sorry for him

Yea, I forgot, but I just saw something on him where many people said he had top 10 talent...just hasn't worked out.

Nothing to see here

Apparently Gregory requested the meeting

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ys-met-league-discuss-substance-abuse-program

"Sources said Gregory asked for the meeting to discuss his place in the NFL's substance-abuse program and his treatment plan, but there has been no notification of a change in Gregory's status on the Cowboys' roster."

Agreed. Can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.
