[News] Early Thinking On Some Roster Battles To Watch

I never said he said he did,but possibly as he ages he would like to do it.That's up to him to decide if he wants to keep playing.if he wants to retire as a future HOF OT,thats fine also

But... on this issue... i'm with Ham.... he may want to keep playing.  I feel the Eagles honored his whole contract.   Paid him a ton of money.   Never were cheap regarding him.    They can move on with no ill will after this season.   Especially with the 1st round draft pick here now.   I think Lurie should act swiftly just like he retired McNabb's # so that the discussion is over.   Similar to the punter last year.    Then if Peters wants to come back... he can try out on the cheap or go to another team.   No ill will.... thanks big guy for everything.

Oh not me,I am merely suggesting it's an OPTION he has.He will probably go out as the HOF bound OT he is and be remembered as such, but it IS an option if he wants to do it and if he can then see no reason to say NOPE unless we have a better option at G

I think he should be the blocking TE ... because it is an OPTION.   He could also try DT as an OPTION.   Hey... if he wants to do it

Greetings from PA guys, rough drive in the rain.

Heard the sad news about the Gnats rookie getting shot. Honor roll kid, but bad things happen partying late at night these days.

Wentz extended - anything else?

23 mill in the last yr of Wentz's rookie deal. No hurry, going to be interesting when this gets done. Injury history going to come into play

Potential cap savings...

Agholor...  9.387mil

Long ... 5.3 mil

Big V ... 2 mil

If I had to guess. The Eagles will have $7.3 mil more of cap space and an additional day 3 draft pick for 2020 before the season starts.

With the 7.3 mil... do we offer Ziggy a one year prove it deal?

Ham called it in 2013.  It's an obvious option as long as he doesn't get the monster contract.

From 4/28/19- "Next step for Eagles: Finding out how roster translates on playing field"

Miller: A good, off-the-edge pass rusher, Miller has players like Graham, Bennett, Long, Curry, and second-year man Josh Sweat in the same room.

Uh…Spuds, I don't think Bennett is here anymore. LOL That's ok, we have brain block problems too. Thanks for your dedication to the BEST TEAM Eagle_smiley.jpg (in our hearts) in the NFL from the very top to bottom.

Not sure what team Long thinks is going to feature him as the star. He had a very good season last year. So this is obviously a good place for him to play. I’m sure he would get a good amount of snaps as part of the rotation. And if one DE gets injured he moves up to workhorse status.

First... Ziggy.... one year prove it is perfect, lets not get ridiculous here.   While your disgust for Lane with the suspensions... Ziggy gets injured blowing his nose at night... one year is fine, let him come in hungry and playing for one more big deal.   Then we get the comp pick or see if we want to keep him.

As for Long, listening to a few beat guys on the radio and TV... seems like he just has other interests outside of football, and he just doesn't want to say I want to retire.   Like he doesn't want to come off quitting on the team, so this is his excuse.  Pushes enough blame on the team to where its really nobody's fault... "it's a business"  excuse.   Especially with the signing of Malik Jackson as your inside pass rusher, less NASCAR package for him to play... its an easy out.

So wondering then if this is forcing the Eagles to just release him .... or does Long agree to push this signing bonus down the road again?   If I'm the Eagles I say ... " Chris you know we want you back, we aren't going anywhere, if you need another couple of weeks, then take your time... we'll push back the  date until first OTA if you want?"      Then after signing Ziggy ... I cut him.   Sorry dude, you are a class act, but you obviously have other interests.    Let us know how we can support you.   Now you have a clear conscience that you didn't let us down.  Thanks for your service.

Yeah, I'm curious to see if the Eagles push it back or if they just make the decision tomorrow, he did tell them to plan as though he won't be back, so we'll see.

If we cut him now.... he can skip OTAs etc.   Maybe that's what he wants too.   For me, I'm not planning on him playing next year.   I'm ok getting hte $5.3 mil of cap space for now... then keeping it open for his return later if we don't sing anyone.    The young kids would get more reps in the spring and camp etc.
