San Diego market

Recommended Posts

Here's a nugget inside an article about the Oakland Raiders exploring the possibility of playing in San Diego temporarily next year:

Hence the overtures with San Diego. However, such a move would face significant resistance from the two teams already playing in Southern California and seeking to tap into the San Diego market – the Rams and Chargers – and many in the league office doubt Mark Davis' team will ever be allowed to play there as those other two franchises are just starting to sell tickets.

The Chargers are trying to tap into the San Diego market?  Maybe if they played there, they could really tap into it!

If the Raiders play a season or two in San Diego, will the fans follow them to Las Vegas?

What is this Oakland lawsuit about? Seems too little too late. Their lease is up after this season. Then the Raiders can play where they want.

If the fans follow them to Las Vegas, then I would think they follow them to San Diego for  year, or a couple games, because geography apparently wouldn't play a part in the first place.  Just like someone who is an Eagles fan like the team for who they are, not because they live in eastern Pennsylvania or anything.  An Eagles fan in Media or West Chester might not follow the team if they moved to Portland or San Antonio, but an Eagles fan from Oklahoma or West Virginia or Canada might follow them after the move.

I just thought it was ironic that the team that moved from San Diego is trying to tap into the San Diego market.  You'd think the Chargers moved from Chicago or New Orleans or something.
