Week 7 SNF: Rams-49ers Flexed Out for Bengals-Chiefs

Recommended Posts

First time ever there has been an early season "flex" on Sunday Night Football:

Not really a surprise after the 49ers lost at home to the previously winless Cardinals to fall to 1-5.  With this week likely seeing a shellacking in Green Bay, we could see them 1-6.

Chiefs become the first team in NFL history to play back-to-back Sunday Night games before the main "flex" period in Weeks 10-11 starts.

This also likely means the Week 13 meeting between the 49ers and Seahawks will likely also be flexed out with right now Chargers-Steelers the favorites to take that slot.

Would not be surprised if the 49ers completely tank to finish 1-15, get the #1 overall pick and be in a position to get a king's ransom from a team desperate for a starting QB willing to trade the store to get such since Jimmy G will be back next season.

49ers aren't tanking so much. They are decimated by injuries on offense and defense. No Garoppolo, McKinnon went on IR before the season, injuries all along the defense and offense...

Chargers-Steelers is a good bet to flex into Week 13 SNF, since Fox likely wants to protect the Vikings-Patriots in the late game slot.

The 49ers might not intentionally tank, but I can see them go into full tank mode knowing they are unlikely to do much of anything this season given all the injuries they have.  Their game with the Giants on Monday Night Football besides possibly deciding who gets the #1 overall pick could prove to be the poster child for ESPN getting flex considerations in THEIR next contract for MNF.

Chargers-Steelers likely to be protected by CBS, but even if it is, the NFL might do the first of a few "protection overrides" this season as they owe NBC for not giving them a Sunday Night game in Week 17 last year.

They don't need to tank they were not gonna be that good with Jimmy G. Now they are the same crap team without him

And the Pack may not be much better as they almost lost to the 49ers last night.  Aaron Rodgers is making his case to be MVP of the league.

Happy for this...mainly because the SNF games this year have all been awesome so far. Also despite how unpopular this opinion is...I still root for Andy when he's not playing the Birds and getting to see more Chiefs games is ok by me.
