Wasn't it Timberlake last year? I was so tense I barely remember. The 10 point lead was great, but after Super Bowl 51, I knew it wasn't enough.

Oh yeah you're right it was... Because he did purple rain in Minnesota. Mind you he was awful.

I remember a clip of Freddie Mitchell getting in the shot, but I only remember after the fact. While it was going on, I wasn't paying attention at all.

Ok final prediction is Rams will be first team to play in 2 SB's that end in same score!

Rams LOSE 31-19, just like SB XIV

I was posting in the Game Day Thread. I had Merrill and Mike synced up with the TV on one of my laptops, and plugged in to my surround sound. So Merrill and Mike were playing through TV's sound system. I don't know if I even looked up at the TV during halftime.

I was still celebrating the Philly Special though, so I do believe that I rewound the DVR to re-watch it several times.

I think I was just reading the GDT during halftime. I don't remember anything specific. I know all 3 playoff games, I couldn't eat dinner until after the games were over because my stomach was always in knots, even though the NFCCG seemed well in control at halftime.

I've been posting on game day threads for going on 20 years (since at least 2001), at times it's actually caused me to miss plays because I'm either reading or typing. At times, I've told myself that I wouldn't even log into the board and just watch the game. I always end up getting on though.

I guess since I live in Virginia, it's the only way I can watch the game with Eagles fans, so I just can't stay away lol. I've been doing it for so long that it's just part of my normal gameday experience. I just have to be in the thread to celebrate or commiserate.

Winning the Super Bowl wouldn't have felt complete if I couldn't celebrate it with my fellow EMBers.

I felt the same way in a lot of ways. I only started in 2007 watching while being in the GDT. It was how I could be around others who understood my passion for the game. My wife understands it, but doesn't share it, so I'm on my own here. The last 2 games of the regular season, I was in Florida for the holidays so I was able to watch with my mom, and part of the time with my sister and BIL who stopped by during the Texans game.

Now, hanging out with EMBers during games is fun, but I don't see the appeal of watching someone who's watching the game. I like seeing some of Shango's reactions after the fact, but I wouldn't care to watch him (or an Eagles fan equivalent) watching the game.

I can’t tske the negativity of the game day thread.  One bad play and the ream sucks, this player sucks, the coach sucks, the eagles are doomed.

Its not bad when the team is winning but otherwise it’s almost unbearable .

I just ignore those. The thread is so populated with posters that I probably only read 1% of what's posted, unless someone is replying to something that I posted. Then I get the notification and go read that.

Well, in 24 hours we'll know who won.

Are Rams fans sitting in a dark room, crying tears of sadness (and Saints fans rejoicing at their sadness) or are Brady and Belicheat contemplating retirement after a second Super Bowl loss in a row (and Saints fans shaking their fists at God and cursing the name of Roger Goodell)?

Has anyone else ever felt such a lack of excitement for the SB? Maybe it's because it's only one year removed from when we were there but I'm just not feeling it.

100% yes.

It may be the fan bases from a market demographic perspective that dulled the excitement. The Pats fans are kind of Ho-Hum here we go again. The Rams fans are like...well...there's only about 200 of them in the nation so not much buzz there. It's a boring build up. Last year Eagles nation which is nationwide was hyped into the stratosphere. Everyone gave them no chance even though almost the whole country was secretly pulling for them and then they did it. They slayed the dragon. they beat the unbeatable...with a back up QB! It was an exciting story and millions of Eagles fans across the country were eating it up daily.

They're trying this year with the McVay vs. Belichick angle and the Goff vs. TB12 but it's kind of meh. The target audience is complacent or essentially non-existent. It's the Super Bowl so there's interest, but it doesn't come anywhere close to last year. I don't see as many TV spots or excitement from analysts like last year. SB LII will be tough to match and impossible to top.

Given the fantasy football mentality we currently live in, people want high scoring, no defense games nowadays. These teams on a good day can provide that, but I’d be surprised if they match last year’s output.

On top of that, the huge plays involved. The Philly Special, the TDs to Jeffery and Clement that were dime throws, NE having at least one long gainer play seemingly every drive, the late strip sack.

I don’t see how a casual fan couldn’t have been entertained last year.

That's one reason why I'm rooting for Rams

I remember being completely disinterested the year the Bucs played the Raiders. I didn't even know which team to root for, and I think I actually changed my mind the day of the game. And even now, I have no recollection of who I wanted to win that game. I hardly cared.

The Rams had a nice season, but the idea of a young head coach in his 2nd year into his first head coaching job playing on the biggest stage against the likes of Brady and Belichick and coming out on top is just an absurd idea. Right?

All we need do is look at our own Eagles last season . . . no one gave us a chance after Wentz went down. The game was already in the bag for the Pats by the time of Super Bowl LII. No way the Eagles and 2nd year HC Doug Pederson are gonna beat the 'Evil Empire' of Bill BeliCHEAT & Tom Brady, right?

Talk about who you hate more,

Pats, no contest . . . no other team even comes close.

I and the rest of America (outside of Bean-Town) are sick to death of the 'Evil Empire'. Enough already.

For once I'd like to see Brady sacked 5 times and knocked down a bunch more.

I'd like it if Gurley & co. ran all over the Pats thus making their passing game more potent & less predictable.

More running means more time off the clock and keeping Brady on the sideline staring at video.

I'd like the Pats to get  CRUSHED  but I'll settle for the Rams beating them on their last possession and not allowing Brady to even get his hands on the ball.

And, after a crushing loss to the Rams, it would be great to see Brady & BeliCHEAT go off into the sunset together.

Maybe they could open up a new casino somewhere . . . B&B Enterprises:   "You Bet It And We Get It."

That would make all things right in the universe for me at this time.

and how much we should have been there instead.

I honestly don't believe that. I was shocked when the Bears choked on that FG.

Really, we shoulda never gotten past them . . . especially given all the injuries . . . but then again . . .

                                                "any given Sunday" . . . ???

Yeah I mean I want the Pats to win but its the lesser of two evils as far as I'm concerned.

Chance one of the teams do some type of Philly Special?

I wouldn't be surprised if NE ran that option-pass to Brady again. I hope they do, I would love to see him get lit the F up by the Rams defense.

Only if he’s deemed a runner, like cooks

I feel that way for just about every SB.

I love the regular season, love the playoffs, but meh for the final game. I need to have an interest to watch. And most times I have no interest.
