I just read that he smacked a security guard, not a cop.  Makes more sense now

Would explain why he wasn't arrested on the spot. In the video it looks like a cop (looks like he has a sidearm). But then again, some security guards look like cops and carry sidearms.

I didn't say that it wasn't petty or that it was. The warrant is for 'simple assault', you could easily replace 'simple' with 'petty' and I wouldn't argue it. I think the two words (in this situation), could easily be interchangeable.

Petty or not though, it was a foolish thing for him to do. Pretend for a moment that he was on the field and playing in a game. There's a penalty flag thrown and the ref that threw it is talking to the player who committed the penalty... let's say it's a false start. While talking to the player in question, Beckham comes up behind the ref and does EXACTLY what he did to the cop.

After the slap, what happens?

Why create that scenario? Is it because the rule of not touching the refs? It happens all the time in jest if you watch the games

In your scenario though I have no idea. Could be a flag and could not be. Refs are too inconsistent IMO to have a definitive answer for it

That depends - is the ref from NOLA or Minnesota?

I don't know where any of the refs are from. It would have to be a game between the Browns and some other team though, let's say it's against the Giants and the ref is from Kansas City.

It's just an analogy for discussion sake, and yes 'celebratory' slaps happen a lot. But I'm saying that it's done with 'malice' because the ref threw a flag against Beckham's friend. So it isn't 'celebratory', it's antagonistic.

In a case like that, a flag gets thrown, the player gets ejected and later in the week he gets a fine and in all likelihood, a suspension.

But like I said, I won't argue that an arrest warrant for this can be seen as being 'petty'. Beckham isn't worth arguing over. So I'm not arguing for or against him... I'm just bored and discussing it for the sake of killing a few minutes.

The MOST important thing to remember, though, is the undisputed FACT that Harold Carmichael is a Pro Football Hall of Fame Wide Receiver. Let's just not forget that... Eagle_smiley.jpg

Let's say that the trade garnered nothing at all for the Giants. All of the players, all of the cap relief and anything else that they got, vanishes. The only thing that the Giants walk away with is not having Beckahm on their roster anymore. That alone makes it a huge win for the Giants. Anything else that comes after that, is just "found money".

I mean, yea I want nothing to do with that guy, but getting all those pieces will make this a win long term. I don’t even know why he’s so arrogant. He’s won nothing. He’s contributed very little to the league except a few highlight reel catches. This is coming from someone that was at one point a big fan. I was turned off by year 2.

You're wrong. He (and Eli) did win something...

Best commercial during Super Bowl LII:

I guess Eli was the 'man' in that 'relationship'?

Its petty to you or I. But if someone doesnt like being touched or a** smacked who are we to say its petty?

Not sure why security didnt just go straight to the HC and tell him to get the cigars extinguished and get his players in check.  He put himself in a bad spot.

malone should have picked him up and threw him across the stadium.

Don't forget that the same day he was also escorted out of the game by police

New video shows security ushered Odell Beckham Jr. out of the stands at national championship game

Odell Beckham Jr.’s trip to the College Football Playoff final was an eventful one, and his actions inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome have resulted in an investigation into the money he handed out to players on the field, along with a charge of simple assault following a confrontation with a guard inside the LSU locker room after the victory.

The former Tigers star also had a run in with security when he entered the stands where the LSU band was located, which was captured on a video that went viral on Thursday.

In the videos, Beckham walks into the LSU band section, and is eventually ushered back on to the field by an officer.

It’s being speculated that Beckham Jr. may have tried to get the band to play the banned song "Neck,” short for "Talkin’ Out Da Side of Ya Neck” by Cameo and Dem Franchize Boys. The song is accompanied by a profane fan chant, which led the school to bar the band from playing it in 2010. The band never did play the song, according to The State, but many fans performed the chant during a rendition of a Panic! At The Disco song, and Joe Burrow even appeared to join in. Beckham Jr. reportedly tried to get the band to play the song during a game in 2017.

Later on in the evening, Beckham confronted a guard in the LSU locker room, and appeared to slap the officer from behind. On Thursday, NOLA.com reported that New Orleans police had "obtained an arrest warrant accusing NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. of simple battery.”
